Quantcast Vegetarian StarThe Early Show

Weatherman Dave Price from “The Early Show” got early sweet tooth satisfaction after he sampled an array of chocolate on the show.

Wanting to share the goodness with his family, Price began putting some in his pockets. When he sampled the vegan chocolates, he decided the fam needed to try some of those as well, agreeing with Harry Smith that it melts best in your mouth and “not in your pocket.”

The wonderful thing about chocolate is that the product itself is naturally vegan. Pick a good company that starts with the fair-traded dark deliciousness, sweetens with natural sugar and adds either vegan milk or none at all and you’ve got yourself a good deal.

Plamil Chocolate is a good vegan candidate for you and the family, as it’s organic, vegan and fair-traded. Many of the Endangered Species Dark Chocolates are vegan, organic, gluten-free and ethically traded, with 10% of the profits supporting organizations that help species, humans and both of their habitats.

Bethenny Frankel Prepares Low Cost Vegetarian Meal

Bethenny Frankel launches her new Skinny girl Margarita

The Early Show Saturday Edition gave Bethenny Frankel the task of preparing a healthy, three course meal for four at a budget price of only $40.

Bethenny prepared a pesto vegetarian lasagna, arugula salad with dressing and a vegan chocolate cake with peanut butter icing.

The vegetarian lasagna contains part skim ricotta and mozzarella cheeses, so it can easily be veganized if needed.

Bethenny said of the vegan chocolate cake made with oat flour:

“When I first made this recipe, my fiancĂ© and I stared at each other for days afterward, marveling at how moist and delicious this cake was. We couldn’t believe it. I even accused him of dumping a stick of butter into the batter when I was in the bathroom. I kept looking at the recipe trying to figure out what made it so moist. It really is the dessert mystery of all time, as far as I’m concerned.”

A detailed description of some of the key ingredients to Bethenny’s meal can be found at CBS News.

Anna Paquin Golden Globe Awards Stella McCartney Dress

HBO's Post Golden Globe Awards Party - Arrivals

So everybody knows Avatar and Mad Men took home a trophy at the Golden Globe awards, but who won in the category of best dressed star?

The Veg Star gives Anna Paquin the award for sporting the most ethical fashion that night.

Suze Yalof-Schwartz, executive fashion editor at large for Glamour magazine, shared her top picks for the best and worst dressed on “The Early Show,” and reported Anna’s dress, a “Stella McCartney gold beaded gown with a plunging v-shaped neckline,” as one of her top picks.

Of course, not everyone got a thumbs up from Glamour’s editor.

Maybe if Patricia Arquette had worn a dress by vegetarian Stella, Yalof-Schwartz would not have described her bad fashion sense as, “captured by a fisherman’s net, like she was dragged in by the sea.”

Vegan Peter Max Paints 44 Obamas

6th Annual Women's Day Red Dress Awards

When vegan artist Peter Max wasn’t dining at Candle Cafe in his neighborhood, he was busy putting 44 faces on President Barack Obama.

Max has painted portraits of the U.S.’s last five presidents, and to celebrate Obama as the 44th president, Max painted 44 different portraits.

He used numerous photos provided to him by CBS and began working before the Christmas Holiday season.

He debuted the portraits CBS’ “The Early Show” last month.

This is not the first of a series of portraits Max has completed. After the 9/11 tragedy, he took nine months to paint all 343 faces of the firefighters who died that day for the American Heroes’ project, a gift to the firefighters’ families.

A portion of the money generated from the Obama portraits will go towards orphanages, according to Max.
