Diane Warren recently told MNN that she loves faux meats, her favorites being Boca Burgers and Quorn Products.
“There are so many great meat substitutes,” the songwriter and vegetarian for 11 years said.
You may already know there are dozens of meat substitutes out there, but unsure of which go best in traditional dishes that call for ground beef.
Suzan Colon from O, The Oprah Magazine appeared on “The Early Show” to introduce the crew to a variety of fake meats and give her input on her favorites.
Burgers, tacos, lasagna and sloppy joes she introduced were all made from a variety of faux meat products, vegetarian and vegan, available at the grocery, with a comparison of the calorie, fat and other nutrition content in the veggie version versus the meat one.
Boca, Yves and Lightlife Smart brands are used.
Here’s how Lightlife Smart Crumbles matched up:
“Despite having no fat, Lightlife was lauded by the O panel for its sumptuous feel in the mouth. Its mild flavor gives it extra versatility, so not only is it a great substitute for a burger, but it can be used instead of beef in lasagna, casseroles, or pasta. Features ready-to-use meatless crumbles.”
