Anthony Bourdain Vegetarian Hate Speech With Playboy

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, October 17th, 2011 in Chefs, Food & Drink, Not So Vegetarian.

Anthony Bourdain "Medium Raw"

Anthony Bourdain has picked Playboy magazine to sound off his latest complaints about vegetarians and vegans.

Well, at least he’s still on our side when it comes to mass-produced food and factory farms.

He’s got choice words for both groups in between his love for sheep testicles, seal eyes and In-N-Out burgers.

On Vegetarians:
They make for bad travelers and bad guests. The notion that before you even set out to go to Thailand, you say, “I’m not interested,” or you’re unwilling to try things that people take so personally and are so proud of and so generous with, I don’t understand that, and I think it’s rude. You’re at Grandma’s house, you eat what Grandma serves you

Anthony Bourdain Calls Paula Deen Dangerous For Food Choices

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, August 22nd, 2011 in Chefs, Food & Drink.

Between his vegan hate speech and her butter and bacon cholesterol bombs, it seems like Paula Deen and Anthony Bourdain would be the best of friends.

But Bourdain has made some not so nice comments about some Food Network stars and Deen is on the naughty list for poisoning people’s arteries.

Anthony Bourdain–Friend To Persistent Irritating Vegans?

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, February 21st, 2011 in Animal Issues, Books, Chefs, Food & Drink.

Anthony Bourdain "Medium Raw"

Anthony Bourdain may never be president of the Vegan of the Month Club, but in recent years, the chef and author who said vegans are a “persistent irritant to any chef worth a damn,” has stood up for some of the very same animal cruelty and sustainable food principles vegetarians have.

Treehugger highlighted this during a review of Bourdain’s book, Medium Rare, where he says he and PETA are alike in that he doesn’t want animals to suffer and that people should be eating less meat.

Anthony Bourdain and Jonathan Safran Foer have taken a stab at the meat versus vegetarian debate before on Eric Ripert’s Turn and Burn. Now, the chef and author are together again for a debate posted at CBC Radio.

Foer’s primary reason for going vegetarian was because of the conditions of factory farms, citing they go against the values most people hold, whether they’re vegetarian or not.

Bourdain kept referencing to eating meat as a way to welcome other people and experiencing cultures outside your home. So while being vegetarian at home is okay, he’d prefer people not turn down meat dishes as guests.

Anthony Bourdain Says Meat Not Necessary, India Is Perfect Example

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, September 14th, 2010 in Chefs, Food & Drink.

Why do some restaurants feel the need to put beef or chicken stock in a vegetable soup?

Vegetable oil is healthier than animal fat, so why is lard still being used in dishes?

Anthony Bourdain is not a vegetarian’s best friend (during a recent interview, he suggests we have a social obligation to eat the turkey grandma cooks on Thanksgiving), but he does agree that the ubiquitous presence of meat is unhealthy and unnecessary.

“Personally, I don’t think the “war” against fast food chains can be won on the facts. I think you win it the way elections are too often won: through appealing to the most base fears and prejudices of the lowest common denominator — through propaganda, through scaring the hell out of people. It worked for Bush. It might work for food advocates.”

Anthony Bourdain, during an interview with CBC News. There’s nothing scarier than polluted waters from factory farm manure runoff and increased risk of heart attack and cancer. Vegetarian and environmental advocates have been trying to scare the chicken wings out of people’s hands for awhile. Any ideas why it’s taking so long to make change?

Gordon Ramsay joked he would put his kid on a fence and electrocute him if he went vegetarian. Now another celebrity chef with a taste for both fine food and foul mouth has shared how he would react if his daughter went meatless.

Anthony Bourdain told the Miami New Times he will cope with the situation by making her smell pork every day. Lovely.

“I’ll say, “It’s a phase! It’s a phase!” I will live with it. I will love my daughter. But I will cook bacon around her every day.”

Bourdain had better get ready to grab the faux ham instead, because according to the LA Times, his daughter is a good candidate for going veg 10 years from now.

Anthony Bourdain has admitted to knowingly sleeping with a vegetarian. This ended relationship must obviously be why he’s called them and vegans a “persistent irritant to any chef worth a damn.”

Despite his hatred for bean lovers, there’s a potential bedtime fellow he’ll never seduce–that’s McDonald’s. The Guardian contains an edited abstract from Bourdain’s latest book, Medium Raw, which describes his hatred toward the giants that suck children into meals consisting of factory farmed meat bad for people, animals and the planet.

“They know exactly when and how to start building brand identification and loyalty with brightly coloured clowns and smoothly tied-in toys. From funding impoverished school districts to the instalment of playgrounds, McDonald’s has not shrunk from fucking with young minds in any way it can. But I want my little girl to see fast-food culture as I do. As the enemy.”
