Leona Lewis On Vegetarian Catering, Horses

Leona Lewis spoke to the UK Sun where she revealed she takes her job seriously–right down to the food served at work.

“I only have vegetarian catering,” Leona said. “Everyone who works with me knows that now.

“I don’t have any meat at photoshoots and video shoots. It’ll be the same on the tour.”

Leona loves horses and although she’ll be using horse themes for her upcoming tour, she’s smart enough to know real animals don’t belong on the stage.

“Yes, we will be using some horse themes – but no real horses. That would be strange and possibly a bit dangerous!

And Leona is totally into rent-a-horse, as long as it’s done ethically.

“I ride whenever I can, which is about once a week. Luckily, you can lease horses a bit like cars.

“But I am very careful to make sure that it is not cruel in any way. I had an incident when I got hurt by a horse a few months ago. But that was my fault, not the horse’s.”

MTV Europe Music Awards 2009 - Show

Leona Lewis says that because sometimes it’s so hard to find veg food when traveling, she brings her own wherever she goes.

“I take tofu everywhere with me in my suitcase,” Leona said. “We get to these random places in Germany that don’t even know what a vegetarian is.”

Carrie Underwood and Leona Lewis both have new albums coming out in November.

Carrie will Play On and continue to be a voice for animals, such as when she donated proceeds of her version of “Home Sweet Home” to the Humane Society.

We’re confident Leona will create an Echo of love for animals, now that she’s working with the World Society for the Protection of Animals.

Both girls maintain great figures and voices by sticking to the veg diet.

Katherine Jenkins “Believe” The Vegetarian Rumors

Written by Vegetarian Star on Sunday, October 25th, 2009 in Female Singers, Food & Drink.

Chelsea Flower Show - Press & VIP Preview Day

Katherine Jenkins is releasing a new album, Believe, on October 27 2009 and the mezzo soprano singer is probably ready to dodge the bullet of rumors regarding her off stage personality any minute now.

In the past, some have labeled her demanding and difficult.

“I am definitely not a diva,” she said.

Oh, good. And she’s no assault by cell phone Naomi Campbell either.

“For starters I have never thrown a mobile phone at anyone. It is so not me to do something like that. I would never ever.”

“There is always a grain of truth in things that are written, like me ordering a vegetarian meal. But I’ve been a veggie for three years, so what else would I eat? My mum would sort me out if she thought I was acting up – and give me a good slap.”

Katherine took some heat from vegetarians when she agreed to sing at Harrod’s Department Store, the same store that Leona Lewis turned down to open, because it sells fur.

Leona Lewis Criticized For Not Singing At Harrods

2009 VH1 Divas

When Leona Lewis refused to open a sale at Harrods Department store because it sold fur, many applauded her decision to stand by her beliefs.

But not everybody thought it was best decision to turn down over a million dollars, even if it came from a store which stocked those products.

“I am outspoken, especially if it’s to do with animal welfare,” Leona told Scotland’s The Big Issue.

“I got a lot of flak for the Harrods decision. There were people who said I should have done it and given the money to charity, but that would have been such a contradiction because doing it on one hand to give on the other is not helping anything.”

Leona’s sophomore album, Echo, comes out on November 17.

Alexandra Burke Can “Overcome” Eating Real Chicken

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, September 25th, 2009 in Female Singers, Food & Drink.

Alexandra Burke at the Death By Daylight event held at Bungalow 8 nightclub in London

Alexandra Burke may be compared to Leona Lewis for her talent and sex appeal, but the X Factor winner insists she and the vegetarian are nothing alike.

“She’s a really sweet girl,” Burke told Attitude. “I was actually happy that it wasn’t just a brief meeting, it was actually sitting down talking. Well you know she’s very laid back. I’m quite the opposite to her.

“I saw her in LA for dinner, she’s a vegan and I actually tried a vegan restaurant she goes to – not with her – but I went to one and it was actually quite nice. I was quite impressed because I like my chicken.”

Glad to hear Alexandra liked her meatless meal.

Is there a chance she will become a little like Leona and frequent the vegan restaurant scene more often?

Someone’s gotta tell her about the dozens of faux chicken she can cook at home.

Alexandra releases a new single, Bad Boys, on October 5.

Her album, Overcome, debuts October 19.

“I definitely have moments when I come home and shut the door and think that all I want to do is sing. But then I think, wait a minute — how are people going to hear my music? The bottom line is that if I can inspire, create awareness and help someone or an animal in any way, then it’s all been worth it”

—-Leona Lewis, in an interview with The Big Issue magazine.

Leona’s definitely doing her job, as she never fails to bring up her vegetarian diet and lifestyle in interviews and public appearances.
