Daryl Hannah will be the guest speaker at the Treehugger’s Ball on Saturday, June 11 from 4PM to 11PM in Blackstar Canyon in Silverado, California. The event benefits the Canyon Land Conservation Fund, an organization dedicated to preserving the wild lands in Cleveland National Forest in Orange County, California.

Daryl Hannah will open an event at Pepperdine University that highlights sustainable business practices.

On Friday, March 11, the 2011 Magill Business symposium in Malibu will host a series of presentations that focus on how companies can, “incorporate social, ethical and environmental values profitably.”

The vegetarian actress will use the opportunity to discuss the events in her life that lead her to research living more sustainably. Hannah is an environmentalist who also runs a site, dhlovelife.com, featuring articles and videos on eco-friendly living. Food is a theme of dhlovelive.com, and Hannah has posted her visits to a few vegetarian/vegan businesses to the site.

Sea Shepherd "Night For The Oceans"

Sea Shepherd is hosting a Night for The Oceans on October 23rd, to benefit the organization’s efforts.

The event is mainly “by invitation only” but the group has allocated 25 tickets available for purchase on a first come, first serve basis.

Stars for the evening include Captain Paul Watson and the Sea Shepherd crew, Michelle Rodriguez, Daryl Hannah, Emily Deschanel and others.

A special announcement is expected to be made during the evening regarding a new vessel that will join Sea Shepherd’s “Operation No Compromise” mission in the Southern Ocean

The Environmental Working Group’s Cosmetics Database allows you to search for products by brand or type and take a closer look at the ingredients. Warnings on some potentially problematic ingredients (like irritants, carcinogens) are given, as well as background information and scientific literature supporting the risks.

The musical groups Social Distortion and JP, Chrissie & the Fairground Boys will be performing at the 2010 Animal Acres Gala on September 11th at the Animal Acres Sanctuary and Compassionate Living Center in Acton, CA.

The event beings at 5:00 PM with a “Cowtail Party,” where attendees can mingle with the “guests of honor”–cows, chickens, pigs and other rescued farmed animals.

“I travel with him because he enjoys other cultures and people. He is fascinated about learning, well – everything!”

French Fries To Go is an award winning documentary that follows the journey to convert the first city bus in the nation to 100% biodiesel from used vegetable oil. The Environmental Media Association and Yes To Carrots teamed up to launch “The Garden Challenge” that encourages students to get acquainted with growing their own produce in a contest where schools competed for a gardening grant.

Students uploaded videos explaining why a garden would be a great addition to their schools.

Daryl Hannah, Wendie Malick, and Rosario Dawson all have words to say in the video at CBS as they’re outside among students and cabbage.

Hannah thinks a school garden will make students less fearful of vegetables.

“I become a vegetarian when I was 11, but I was always afraid of vegetables,” Hannah said. “It wasn’t until I actually started growing them that I was not afraid to eat them.”
