Daryl Hannah will open an event at Pepperdine University that highlights sustainable business practices.

On Friday, March 11, the 2011 Magill Business symposium in Malibu will host a series of presentations that focus on how companies can, “incorporate social, ethical and environmental values profitably.”

The vegetarian actress will use the opportunity to discuss the events in her life that lead her to research living more sustainably. Hannah is an environmentalist who also runs a site, dhlovelife.com, featuring articles and videos on eco-friendly living. Food is a theme of dhlovelive.com, and Hannah has posted her visits to a few vegetarian/vegan businesses to the site.

The following is a list of speakers and their associated businesses that will present during the symposium:

  • Karen Stewart and Howard Brown: Founders of Stewart-Brown Clothing, a sustainable fashion label that donates a portion of sales to non-profit, non-government environmental and social welfare organizations.
  • Todd Melton: Owner of Revolve Electronics, maker of Earth friendly electronics made from recycled and sustainable materials.
  • Greg Thomsen: Managing Director, Adidas Outdoor USA and Founder, Pacifica LTM, LLC.
  • Bill Moses, founder of KeVita Drink Company and Casa Barranca Winery: A former Wall Street banker who went on to create an organic, non-dairy probiotic drink.

The Magill Business Symposium is part of Pepperdine University’s Certificate in Socially, Environmentally and Ethically Responsible (SEER) Business Practice Program.
