Chipotle Expand Tofu Burrito Filling To More Restaurants

Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. is continuing a test of its latest vegetarian taco and burrito filling by expanding the offering to all 96 of its Northern California restaurants.

The sofrita–a burrito made from shredded tofu–was a favorite in seven California Chipotle restaurants and company officials are hoping the trend will grow in the entire region.

Wrigley Field

Chicago Cubs officials have announced they have partnered with Levy Restaurants to brings fans at Wrigley Field vegetarian hot dogs.

This is another addition to many of Wrigley’s veggie options that include meatless burgers and wraps.

Fans will be able to pile on all the traditional toppings on a meat-free dog at the ballpark named as one of PETA’s most veggie friendly.

Cupcake Wars

Cupcake Wars recently featured the North Carolina based vegan friendly bakery Maddy’s Fatty’s.

Madeline Baucom and her sister-in-law Enza Friedman came in second on the episode that honored the CBS soap opera The Young and the Restless and its 10,000th episode.

The challenge was to bake 1,000 cupcakes for a party celebrating the milestone.

“Zagat” Rates Top Vegan Restaurants Serving Diner Style Food

Zagat, one of the most known and respected outlets for restaurant ratings, has blogged about vegan restaurants in the U.S. that serve animal-free versions of classic items like grilled cheese, burgers, and chicken fingers.

Joe Yonan‘s “coming out as a vegetarian,” as many journalists and bloggers are calling it, has resulted in good publicity for the diet. As the food editor of the Washington Post, Yonan now has the ability to share the benefits and tasty secrets of a plant-based diet to millions of Americans.

Maria Shriver Invests In Veg-Friendly Blaze Pizza

Maria Shriver is one of several investors in a new chain of pizza restaurants, Blaze Pizza.

The company offers several pizzas on the menu, but promotes its ability to allow the customer to build its own.

Other investors include Boston Red Sox co-owner Tom Werner; film and TV producer John Davis; Panda Express founder Andrew Cherng, and Shriver’s son, Patrick Schwarzenegger.

“We love pizza,” Shriver told Bloomberg News. “My son and I are really excited to be in the pizza business.”
