So we know model Evelina Zdunczyk is the queen of vegan and eco-friendly handbags.

But did you know most of her models are too. From Sbsnyc:

“The statuesque, Blonde, rose-lipped, blue-eyed beauty CEO of Vegan Queen, Evelina Zdunczyk, is proud to boast that most of her models are, in fact, vegans. This is the first thing she tells me. Then in a dreamy tone, Evelina expresses her gratitude to be able to showcase her vegan bags in a cohesive idea of this particular space, with these particular models, on this particular day. “It is all about sharing love, is it not?” With this ideal notion still lingering in the air, Evelina is swept away by her assistant, and I am left wondering if her pin-straight Platinum strands were eco-processed…”

Pure coincidence? Or does Evelina seek out employees that practice what she preaches?

Heather Mills works on her new vegan restaurant

So not everyone is excited that Heather Mills bought Big Fish Cafe, took the fish off the menu, fired the old employees, and plans to turn it into a vegan restaurant.

From a UK Guardian article titled, “How to be…A celebrity restaurateur”:

“First, remind everyone of the famously vegan status of your famous ex-husband’s beloved first wife. Next, buy up a local fishy concern and announce your intention to remove fish from the menu entirely. Get some nice press shots done of you in chef whites and make some grand pronouncements about how this will be the first in an international chain of vegan splendour. Finally, relax in the knowledge that no one eats in a restaurant merely sponsored by a non-famous civilian dum-di-dum with a piffling passion for food but with no actual history for paparazzi-titillating behaviour. Smile gamely when asked if you intend to throw a glass of water over the heads of hostile food critics.”

Safe to say the UK Guardian isn’t cheering for Heather’s new unfishy restaurant. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. But we gotta check the Guardian on their facts. Linda McCartney was vegetarian, not vegan.

Victorias Secret Model Launch Event

Hmm…which vegan product do I like the most? Does it matter, since I’m a gorgeous model who can afford them all?

Yes, Miranda Kerr was a lucky woman recently as she got to help Victoria’s Secret launch an event in Los Angeles.

Here she’s standing next to the company’s new line of vegan, organic products, PINK.

PINK products contain natural things like soy milk, come in eco-friendly packaging and are completely animal friendly, being both vegan and not tested on animals.

We must say standing next to the product line makes her look even better. Hopefully, she went home and slathered some of that cruelty-free goodness all over her body.

This Victoria’s Secret Angel has just earned an extra pair of wings!

Heather Mills Signs Burger King Whopper Of A Veggie Deal

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, March 23rd, 2009 in Business, Food & Drink, Models, Restaurants.

Heather Mills Named Honorary Chair Of Hunts Point Alliance For Children

Update: There is no burger deal. Not yet, anyway.

Heather Mills has signed a veggie whopper of a deal.

Paul McCartney’s ex, who has been busy teaching families in the Bronx how to cook and eat vegan through her Hunts Point Alliance Charity, has agreed to back the launch of a new meat-free burger at Burger King.

The patty will be featured at over 11,000 Burger Kings nationwide and folks will be able to have it their way, Heather’s way.

Heather will be paid £3 million, which is a little over $4 million US dollars, to promote Burger King’s veggie fare.

Burger King currently offers the BK Veggie Burger at some of its restaurants, so we’re not sure if the BK is staying or being replaced by a new, chic Heather burger.

A source told The People: “Heather is ecstatic. She believes she can change the eating habits of millions. She’s also being paid a lot of money and the deal will help boost her standing.”

This news comes just shortly after we learn Heather has bought an old fish restaurant in the UK and plans to turn it into a vegan eatery.

Heather Mills Buys Big Fish Cafe, Turns It Vegan!

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, March 16th, 2009 in Business, Food & Drink, Models, Restaurants.

Heather Mills works on her new vegan restaurant

The long awaited Heather Mills’ food line may have just arrived.

Paul McCartney’s ex wife has purchased a popular fish restaurant near her home in East Sussex, Big Fish Cafe, and is turning it into a vegan restaurant.

The eatery is thought to be the first in a worldwide chain she has talked about starting for some time.

Heather had dined at Big Fish Cafe in the past with daughter Beatrice, and even while she was still married to Paul, where they would have veggie breakfasts with soya milk tea, according to former owner Nick Short.

Short claims Mills bought the place for less than what was originally agreed, which was blamed on the current credit crunch.

“I have been well and truly worked over by Heather,” he told the UK Daily Mail.

One more sour flavor to add to the tartar sauce: Heather doesn’t have plans to hire the two full time and four part time staff, so Short was forced to lay them off.

Kudos to Heather for getting her vegan restaurant off the ground. But we have to say, in this economy, couldn’t she have shown some veggie love and kept the workers already there. After all, what better way to spread the veg news than to teach an old cook some new vegan tricks?

640_dita_peta2Dita Von Teese was spotted having lunch at Tobey Maguire’s favorite vegan restaurant, Real Food Daily.

We have to give the burlesque beauty entertainer both a thumbs up and thumbs down.

Von Teese worked with PETA in a campaign to encourage pet owners to spay and neuter their animals and was also set to star in a Beauty Without Cruelty campaign in cooporation with Chanel, to show how animal cruelty was unnecessary in the cosmetic industry.

But she has a collection of vintage furs she’s not ashamed to discuss.

“PETA’s totally aware of me,” she once told PEOPLE. “I’m not working with PETA to tell people to be vegetarians or to stop wearing fur. I am there to strictly speak about spaying and neutering your pets.”

PETA had responded by saying, “She said she has some vintage furs she wears occasionally. PETA often works with a celebrity on an issue they feel comfortable supporting, whether it’s supporting spaying and neutering, or speaking out against products that are tested on animals. So they may not be an animal rights activist, but their contribution to any of our campaigns is appreciated.”

Could her recent visit to a vegan restaurant mean she’s leaning towards vegetarianism and will feel comfortable supporting this issue in the future?

If so, this beauty could make a nude, pro-vegetarian ad that would make a habitual steak eater try tempeh.

Jenny McCarthy’s Botox Bull Makes Us Go Boo!

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009 in Actresses, Animal Issues, Comedians, Models, Not So Vegetarian.

DirecTV & The Sundance Channel's 2009 Sundance Party

Jenny McCarthy recently did an interview with Michigan Avenue Magazine where she revealed she’s gaga over Botox.

“I think plastic surgery is fun if it makes you feel good. I’m all for looking better, so I plan on doing whatever I want when the time comes. I love Botox, I absolutely love it. I get it minimally, so I can still move my face. But I really do think it’s a savior.”

While plastic surgery is one thing, we’re sending a big boo to Jenny for proclaiming her love for Botox.

Botox isn’t just any cosmetic. It was tested on animals before it was approved and hit the market. But it’s still being tested on animals. Every box.

Because Botox is a toxin, every batch must be tested before it’s packaged and shipped. Allergan injects mice until it finds a dose at which half of the animals die, or “lethal dose 50,” and use this to gauge the potential harm to humans.

There are different opinions in the vegetarian community about the use of animals in medical research. But it’s safe to say that the use of animals for purely cosmetic purposes doesn’t win approval from any of us.

And who says it makes you look better?

David McWilliams recently made a comparison between Botox and credit and the economy in the Sunday Business Post Online.

“Botox works, but not in the way it is intended. In fact, cosmetic surgery works in the sense that you can’t take your eyes off a woman who has had a lot of “work done”.”

“But you (or at least I) don’t look at her in the way that you find her attractive, but in the sense that you find her weird.”

“Last Friday, in New York, I had one of those moments. I was introduced to a young woman and I couldn’t take my eyes off her face.”

“Her brilliant, bleached-white teeth, her perfect button nose, her sensual bud-like lips and her blemish-free skin, all had the opposite of the desired effect. She was a freak, a classically beautiful woman, but a freak nonetheless.”

“What made her freaky was not just the lack of any expression in her face but behind that very lack of expression lay a profound absence of a scintilla of interest, curiosity and love of the things that make people interesting – the blemishes, the character faults, the glitches.”

“This statuesque product of human ingenuity was not beautiful, but repellent. She was playing tricks on herself and inviting the rest of us to share in her conceit. All the Botox and fillers were making her feel like someone she was not and in so doing threw the gauntlet to other women to do likewise.”

Bar Refaeli, Leonardo DiCaprio Shop At Whole Foods

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, February 27th, 2009 in Food & Drink, Models.

2009 Vanity Fair Oscar Party Hosted By Graydon Carter - Arrivals

Update 2/28/09: We are so sad to learn that Bar is NOT a vegetarian. Although a few sources said she was, as of now, we learn she admits to eating a cheeseburger and fries once a week. Boo!

The rumored vegetarian model and girlfriend of Leonardo DiCaprio, Bar Refaeli, was spotted shopping with her man Leo at Whole Foods.

The two packed the groceries on the back of Leo’s motorcycle.

If case you’ve forgotten (but don’t see how you could have), Bar is the latest Sports Illustrated Swimsuit hottie.

Many of our favorite veg celebs have been spotted at Whole Foods (possibly picking up organic vegetables from China), including Milo Ventimiglia, Stella McCartney, and Anne Hathaway.

Erykah Badu joked it was so expensive to shop there, you had to have a record deal to do so. With the amount of money Bar rakes in from showing off her bod, it’s safe to assume recording artists and models can afford to shop there.

You can view pic of Bar and Leo with their groceries at Popsugar.
