Billy Corgan Walter E. Smithe Ad Benefits PAWS Chicago (Video)

Billy Corgan‘s commercial debut promotes a local company in his hometown and benefits an animal welfare organization.

“I can honestly say that if it had been anybody else in the country outside of Chicago … I probably wouldn’t have done it,” Corgan said, according to the Chicago Tribune.

“(And because) the commercial’s obviously very focused on the Chicago market,” added Corgan of the combined advertisement for his wrestling company Reinaissance Pro and Walter E. Smithe furniture.

The furniture company donated $50,000 to PAWS Chicago–the city’s largest no-kill animal organziation– in exchange for Corgan’s participation.

Morrissey Playing In All Vegetarian Staples Center

Morrissey will play for an all vegetarian crowd during his concert at LA’s Staple’s Center on March 1.

The arena has agreed to not sell any meat products during his show. The McDonald’s located inside the center will shut down.

Paul McCartney has made a statement regarding the controversy of horse meat showing up in the meat supply.

On the topic of supermarkets in the UK selling ready made meals that actually contained horse meat instead of beef, McCartney said the revelation was “scandalous.”

Gavin DeGraw and Good Old War played at William & Mary College for the third annual Charter Day concert, part of the school’s 2013 Charter Day festivities sponsored by the non-profit organization Global Flight Relief.

The bands had a few vegetarian requests that had to be filled by the school’s music committee.

He heads the Meat-Free Monday campaign, an initiative in the UK that encourages eating less meat to preserve the environment.

But there was a time when he thought vegetarians were “wimps.”
