Kate Ford, star of Coronation Street, has posed nude in a PETA campaign to convince officials to use fake fur instead of real bear fur in the hats worn by the Queen’s guards.

“I would ask the Ministry of Defence to reconsider their choice to use real bear fur for the Guards’ caps,” Ford told PETA UK in an interview. “The use of the real fur is uncalled for, as the fake fur is luxurious and looks the same. For this reason, there is no need for bears to go through unimaginable suffering. I ask them to reconsider and choose the compassionate option.

Ford was named “Best Bitch” in British soap opera awards in 2004 and 2005 for her character’s disposition, but luckily for the bears and everyone else, she’s quite empathetic in real life, sharing her home with two elderly cats.

L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center's An Evening With Women - Arrivals

Sarah Silverman told Ok! magazine her last meal at a vegetarian restaurant was the “Big Macro” sandwich with a side of kale at M Cafe in Melrose, Los Angeles.

She called this indulgence “giving into LA.”

“Yes, I have given in to Los Angeles. You have a problem with that?”

The Big Macro, as expected, features the goodness of grains in the, “organic whole-grain brown rice & vegetable burger with lettuce, tomato, pickles, onion, sprouts, soy cheese, and special sauce on a fresh-baked whole wheat bun.”

If you bow down to King Kale, you can get the salad with spicy peanut dressing.

We’ve got no problem with that and would give in in a heartbeat!

Don’t forget to search online for a list of vegetarian restaurants where you can get the Big Macro instead of the Big Mac.

New York Premiere Of Just Wright

Although we love our pescatarians who have removed all animals but seafood from their diets, we do want to get one thing straight.

Fish is meat too.

And presents health risks like mercury poisoning.

And it’s not the best thing for the environment.

But at least rapper Common knows fish is meat and won’t call himself a “vegetarian”, although he emphasizes seafood is the only non plant item he’ll eat.

“I eat fish and that’s it,” the former vegan told Metromix. “That’s the only meat that I eat. I think that’s meat to me. If you eat fish, it’s fish meat.”

The rapper who’ll be starring as a basketball player who bonds with his physical therapist played by Queen Latifah in Just Wright, gets the rest of his protein from favorite veggie foods of beans and rice and vegetarian hot dogs.

82nd Academy Awards Food And Beverage Preview

Wolfgang Puck is set to voice the role of Chef Smurf in the upcoming The Smurfs movie, according to Entertainment Weekly.

If the producers follow the traditional character’s role, Puck won’t be talking about grilling any steak or broiling chicken.

According to Chef Smurf’s Wikipedia entry, he never uses meat, only eggs because Smurfs are mostly vegetarian.

In the cartoon series, he is also Greedy Smurf, who eats lots of cakes and pastries, even stealing  goodies from Baker Smurf, who ends up chasing him for it.

Hey, hey, hey now.

Vegetarian food may be free of a lot of things like trans fat, cholesterol and cruelty, but you still gotta pay for it.

Since it is 2010, it’s high time Baker Smurf incorporate some vegan pastries, including gluten-free varieties.
