The Sierra Club has put together a video of various eco-aware celebrities thanking very, very soon to be President Obama for his work and to remind him of what more needs to be accomplished, like clean energy, green jobs and green transportation.

The beautiful voice of vegan Missy Higgins can be heard in the background singing her hit tune, Steer, so appropriate given he will be the main man behind the wheel of the U.S. for the next four years.

Missy personally reminds Obama to build a greener economy and speaks for everyone when she adds she wants to help him “stabilize the climate and to protect the people and the natural wonders we all love.”

Watch for Missy’s appearances as well as cameos by Pierce Brosnan, Jillian Michaels,  Jason Silva, and Gossip Girl Tamara Feldman to name a few.

Gabe Saporta Saporta Las Bunnies!

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, January 12th, 2009 in Fur, Male Musicians, Male Singers.

600-cobra-starship

Please excuse our butchering of the beautiful Spanish language, but if it gets your attention to a good cause, it was worth it.

Hottie Gabe Saporta of Cobra Starship is cuddling up with one of his favorite bunnies (as good as he looks, he’s gotta be giving Hugh Hefner a run with several) for an anti-fur campaign for PETA.

If you’re wondering where you remember Gabe, it was probably Cobra Starship’s song “Snakes on a plane (Bring It)” for the movie Snakes on a Plane. View the music video for more hottness and refresh your memory.

Back to the cause. Gabe babe is a vegetarian (bonus points) who doesn’t want anyone eating or wearing his little friends, like Thumper, shown here.

If you’d like to own something Gabe and the other band members have touched, enter to win a drumhead used by bandmate Nate Novarro and autographed by everyone in Cobra Starship before January 15th.

You’ll be notified by January 22nd if you’ll have the item laced with all of their lovely DNA.

Vega training: part one of four from Brendan Brazier on Vimeo.

Brendan Brazier is a vegan Ironman triathlete who invented the Vega nutrition and energy products-completely plant based items that he started making as young as 15 years of age.

He met up with cartoonist and fellow vegan Dan Piraro one day who revealed that when he’s stuck in a creative rut, it helps to go on a long bike ride to get the ideas flowing again.

Brazier receives similar mental charges after running.

“I find it is really helpful when I go for a run,” he said. “I wrote most of The Thrive Diet while I was running. All of the ideas and the thoughts would seem to organize themselves, and when I got home, I would write them down.”

A component of his new book, Thrive Fitness: Mental and Physical Strength for Life, is teaching how exercises like “biking, hiking, in-line skating, rowing, running, speed skating, swimming, and brisk walking” fuel your right brain and release your creativity side.

Take a look at the video Brazier filmed about Vega. You’ll find it comforting to know he eats his own products, chowing down on an energy bar.

Now if you’ll excuse us, we need to go on a hike before posting again.

Chef Heather Mills Gives Vegan Cooking Lessons

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, January 12th, 2009 in Food & Drink, Models.

Heather Mills Hosts Healthy Meal Cook-A-Thon with students in The Bronx

Heather Mills was a busy woman in New York this past weekend, giving vegan cooking demonstrations and lessons to families and children living in the Bronx.

Before she put on her chef hat, Heather made a stop by “The Today Show.” If you haven’t already watched the video of her chatting with Matt Lauer, Al Roker (who is also a chef), and the crew, it’s something you don’t want to miss.

As part of her ongoing efforts to contribute to her charity to Hunts Point Alliance for Children (HPAC), Heather taught families of children of John V. Lindsay Charter School how to prepare healthy, vegan food.

The meals will also be served at the “No Beef Teen Cafes” run by HPAC and other community organizations. The community Heather is working with is considered to have one of the highest rates of diabetes and asthma and many living in poverty.

“As a mother I see firsthand the benefits of healthy eating and I’m thrilled the families of Hunts Point are embracing these delicious vegan foods that I’ve loved for so many years” Mills said. “Working with these children here is truly rewarding and a lot of fun.”

Last year, Heather donated a million dollars worth of vegan food to Hunts Point Children Alliance.
