What’s Milo Ventimiglia Cooking Tonight?

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, November 4th, 2008 in Actors.

Grand Re-Opening Of The Burberry Beverly Hills Store

Milo stalkers, uh, we mean, paparazzi caught Milo Ventimiglia shopping at Whole Foods grocery store, the place where you have to have either a record deal or television contract to afford.

There’s a picture of Milo walking with three bags from Whole Foods (but no Hayden Panettiere was helping). Milo has been quoted as saying, “I’m a homebody, I’d rather be in the kitchen cooking than hanging out in a bar.”

So refreshing to see a Hollywood star living up to his word.

Obviously, there’s ingredients for something veggie in there. And we bet he’s pretty good at whipping meatless stuff up, given the fact that he’s been eating vegetarian since day 0 in utero and all.

Here’s the question, though: What do you think Milo cooked that night? Does anyone know his favorite dish? Any ideas as to what he made?

Jada Pinkett-Smith Regrets Caging Boa Constrictor

Women In Film's 2008 Crystal Lucy Awards - Arrivals

Well, maybe she regrets buying a boa constrictor because it has to stay in a cage. Letting an animal like that roam around the house might bring surprises during your 2am snack time.

Actress Jada Pinkett-Smith, wife of Will Smith, bought a red-tailed boa constrictor named Beauty. Having to keep Beauty in a cage for most of the time has made Jada sympathetic to the conditions caged animals live in and she vows to never buy an animal that has to be confined like that again.

She told Contact Music, “I think I’ll never get an animal like a snake again where I have to keep her in an aquarium.”

“We have this whole thing for Beauty outside for her, to be in a natural habitat. But at the end of the day, she knows she’s caged into her aquarium.”

In addition, she told her daughter, Willow, “we won’t do this again and won’t have any animals that need to stay like that.”

The experience has made her think about becoming an animal activist in the years to come.

We wonder if the Mrs. Fresh Prince knows that an easy way to become an activist, of course, is to reduce or cut the consumption of animals from your diet.

Not to worry. Once Pamela Anderson gets word, we’re sure she’ll jump on the chance to help fellow mom Jada make any transitions she needs to become a full-fledged activist.

Adam Levine and the rest of the guys in Maroon 5 held a Halloween party that was completely vegan.

They called upon the expertise of raw food chef and author Ani Phyo to cater dairy free treats such as Happy Halloween Chocolates and Apricot Kream Filled Acai Tartlets.

According to Ani’s website, most of the guys in the band are vegan.

You can look at a picture of Adam’s costume, along with some of the other star guests who attended, such as Adrian Grenier from Entourage who went as Oliver, from Oliver’s Twist, on Ani’s blog.

If delicious pics of the guys don’t satisfy you, try making one of Ani’s recipes.

We were horrified by the Holocaust, but for some reason it hasn’t dawned on the general public that the animals are suffering in our hands in an almost Holocaustic way…I feel rather than people saying to me, “Are you a vegetarian?” my answer should be, “You mean you’re not?” Being vegetarian makes me feel more responsible.

Erykah Badu Has Record Deal, Can Shop At Whole Foods

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, November 4th, 2008 in Female Musicians, Female Singers.

Going To Whole Foods to shop for groceries this weekend? Then ya better call Tyrone for some serious money!

Erykah Badu, soulful singer, vegan, and ex romantic partner of cheapskate Andre 3000 Benjamin spoke with VegNews Magazine about the notion that being a vegan is only for upper middle class, white, individuals.

She admitted that people who are poor may have a harder time being as ethical when it comes to choosing food-they’re just looking to fill up the plate in the cheapest way possible. And worrying about rent or mortgage and buying uniforms for the kids can make shopping healthy a challenge.

“I mean, you almost have to have a record deal to shop at Whole Foods!” said Badu, referring the high costs of food.

Sadly, this may be the case with many living in poverty in the U.S. and other parts of the world. This was why Heather Mills wanted to bring the privilege of healthy vegan food to disadvantaged children.

But not every food bank has Heather’s donations and many are still eating sodium laden Ramen noodles and other meaty “junk.”

As one of the richest countries in the nation, how can we do more to give everybody access to Amy’s? Some co-opts offer discounts when customers pay with Food Stamps because they realize these people are struggling more to get by.

Do you guys know of other ways people are helping the less fortunate eat well (and vegetarian or vegan)? Any Nobel winning ideas for making vegan chow universal, regardless of how fat the wallet is?
