Daniel Negreanu just finished playing at the World Series of Poker In Europe and came away with a 5th place win and some cash to buy a few vegan dinners.

Last month, Negreanu spoke with Poker Player and explained that London was one of the greatest places to eat because of a favorite vegetarian restaurant.

Mario Batali and business partner Joe Bastianach are still working on the food emporium in New York that will feature seven restaurants, one being a vegetarian and vegan one.

The goal is to open Eataly in Manhattan sometime this year.

Batali spoke to Slashfood about the details of the vegetarian restaurant that will compliment others serving pasta, pizza, meat items and a brewpub to make up the complex.

Highlights of the restaurant include a vegetable bar where diners can enjoy greens either raw or steamed, stuffed vegetables, rice salad and seven different kinds of vegan soup. More on the food megaplex below.

Rachel Bilson and her mother were spotted taking a lunch break at a vegetarian restaurant in the Silverlake neighborhood of Los Angeles, California.

Cru boasts a menu that is entirely vegan, gluten-free and mostly organic.

Maybe Bilson and mom ordered items like the Shiitake Mushroom Ravioli, a pasta dish stuffed with herbed cashew cheese and chickpea miso cream sauce.

Or did the two spice things up with a raw vegan chorizo tostada and radish cabbage slaw?

Could a Twilight vegetarian vampire be a real vegan?

Ashley Greene was spotted taking her dog for a walk before stopping by vegan restaurant Real Food Daily for lunch.

Greene plays Alice Cullen in the Twilight, Eclipse and New Moon movies about a family of vegetarian vampires who call themselves such because they don’t eat humans like other vampires do, but they still eat animals in the wild.

Eva Mendes was spotted grabbing vegan lunch at Real Food Daily in L.A.

The actress who stopped wearing fur after receiving a letter from PETA now says her diet is “mostly vegetarian.”

Real Food Daily is “totally vegetarian” and serves everything from vegan B.L.T.s to nachos to pizzas, pastas, seitan and tempeh dishes at their Santa Monica and West Hollywood locations.

Earlier we brought you the news that Teany, the cafe and restaurant Moby co-founded with ex girlfriend Kelly Tisdale, was badly damaged by a fire.

At the time, Moby wasn’t sure what Kelly’s plans were for re-building, but now it looks as though Teany may be up and running in a couple of months.

On his online journal, Moby gave this update:

“teany burned up the other day, but apparently kelly is working hard to repair it and get it re-opened. so there’s a good chance that teany will re-open at some point in the next month or two. i will put news here on moby.com as i find out about it.”

So what’cha what’cha what’cha want? Some raw vegan food!

When Mike Diamond, aka Mike D of hip hop group, the Beastie Boys, wanted delicious raw food prepared for him, he called on his personal chef Aaron Ash.

Aaron thought that if celebrities like members of the Beastie Boys liked vegan, raw foods so much, surely regular people would too. So he opened Gorilla Foods, a raw food/vegan/organic cafe in Vancouver, BC, Canada.

Some in the US often joke about “moving to Canada” for various reasons, including the healthcare system, but hey, here’s reason #1 in our opinion.

The menu consists of vegan pizza with walnut “cheez,” Cashew Alfredo Zucchini Linguini with zucchini “Newdles” and cashew cream, and a vegan dessert menu that’s longer than the salad one. Finally!

And everything’s done without a stove top or oven.

A reviewer from the Vancouver Sun had this to say about the experience:

“When I had lunch there on a recent Saturday, I left feeling like I’d just had a refreshing shower. Raw food does that. When you think of it, it’s like salad tricked out in costume. The menu masquerades in straight-ahead offerings – pizzas, veggie burger, falafal, taco, linguini, wraps, salads, an assortment of desserts including carrot cake and cookies, juices, smoothies and shakes.”

When actor and raw foodie Woodie Harrelson is in town, Ash caters for him as well.

Yeah, you can’t front on that!
