Quantcast Vegetarian StarThe Food Network

The Food Network show Cupcake Wars recently featured Sugar Cupcakery bakery (say it fast three times) in a competition between owner Karla Jennings and bakers from Orlando and Los Angeles to create sweets for George Lopez‘s golf tournament.

Sugar Cupcakery has a dozen or so vegan versions to their cupcakes, including the Tiramasu, Carrot, Grapefruit, Lemon Raspberry, Coconut Lime and more. And at Sugar Cupcakery, you can have your tea and eat it too, as the Earl Gray is infused with the flavorings of the beverage.

Guy Fieri: Bacon-The Other White Vegetable

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, October 12th, 2009 in Chefs, Food & Drink, Not So Vegetarian.

Barnstable Brown Party Celebrating The 135th Kentucky Derby

Poor Guy Fieri is so repressed from his parents forcing him to eat a vegetarian, macrobiotic diet as a child that now he’s projecting his desires onto all vegetarians.

“I can have bacon on anything,” Fieri said. “I don’t know anybody who doesn’t like bacon unless they’re a vegetarian. And I think even vegetarians, quietly, inside, wish they could.”

Speak for yourself Guy.

Any vegetarian knows they can get their faux pork on with imitation bacon like Lightlife Smart Bacon or Tempeh Bacon from the same company.

What’s worse, he’s trying to insult vegetables by making bacon one of them.

“Could bacon be the other vegetable?” Fieri asked. “The other white vegetable?”

“I like bacon on a stick, I like bacon in the morning. I’ve seen bacon ice cream.”

That’s more than enough bacon to make us turn off The Food Network channel for a month.

Cat Cora Family Vegetarian Nights

Human Rights Campaign's Annual Gala - Arrivals

Celebrity Chef Cat Cora, unlike Gordon Ramsay, doesn’t feel vegetarians are a pain at all.

In fact, sometimes The Food Network Iron Chef star and her family even, gasp, joins them!

From afterellen.com:

My wife is a vegetarian, so I have to ask: Do you find it annoying to cook for vegetarians or do you approach it as an invigorating challenge?
CC: I find it a fun challenge. In the Cora family, there are nights when we go all veggie, it is cleansing. So, I appreciate where vegetarians are coming from.

Cat’s no stranger to vegetarian cooking.

If you remember, Cat joined forces with Morningstar Farms to teach families to prepare delicious, quick, and healthier meals into the diets.

She said of the partnership:

“Morningstar Farms and I have come up with some easy ways to make eating well more manageable for the home cook. I want families to understand that good food doesn’t require hours in the kitchen.”

Cat also catered the vegan dinner served during Nigel Barker‘s screening of A Sealed Fate.

So cool that Cat practices what she preaches!
