Fox News television personality Greta Van Susteren went behind the scenes at Mike Tyson‘s home where he showed her his pigeons that are the subject–as well as the controversy with animal rights groups–of his new series on Animal Planet about pigeon racing, Taking On Tyson.

These days Tyson doesn’t give an interview with bringing up his V-Love, and he told Greta how his diet for the past two years has made him a mellow man. He also revealed it was his wife that made him go vegan. Even though she doesn’t always live by example.

On Monday, Mike Tyson found protesters from PETA outside his home.

The activists are unhappy about his new Animal Planet series which debuted last week, Taking On Tyson, which features the boxing champion immersed in the sport of pigeon racing.

Most of the sports world already knows how MLB player Mark Buehrle feels about Michael Vick. If you didn’t hear Buehrle’s comment, it was something along the lines of Vick being the football that gets thrown at the next Eagles game.

During an interview with ESPN, Mike Tyson gave his thoughts on how Vick should be treated.

“Listen, listen. I don’t know why people do what they do. What should we do with Michael Vick?  Really, really: Why don’t we castrate him? Why don’t we do something bad to his children to teach him a lesson? Is that really the answer?”

Mike Tyson, who’s starring in an Animal Planet series about pigeon racing, “Taking On Tyson,” which premieres March 6th. Some animal rights activists have criticized pigeon racing, as it requires birds to be given antibiotics for illnesses and race in adverse weather.

How do you feel about this? Should Mike Tyson show the birds love by instead donating to a bird charity or opening up a sanctuary?

Mike Tyson‘s six episode television series that will run on Animal Planet starting March 2011, “Taking on Tyson,” has caused animal rights activists to demand the show be pulled.

Tyson, a vegan, has responded to the allegations that the sport is cruel to the birds.

“This birds are given water and food everyday. They are medicated so they don’t get sick and have plenty of space,” he said. “They aren’t mistreated.”
