Note to self: Bitch status of Rory Freedman-negative.

People have expressed mixed feeling about the vegan diet book, Skinny Bitch, by authors Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin.

Some say it’s the greatest book on the shelf for going vegan, keeping healthy, and looking trim. Others have criticized it because they think it will give people the idea that going vegan is about losing weight or every person should aim to be skinny.

Freedman agrees people do have their assumptions, but says they’re usually not correct.

“I guess people who haven’t read the book might assume that I think women should be skinny, or that I’m a bitch, or that I’m hung up on my own weight,” Freedman told Ecorazzi.

“I’d want them to know that I could give two shits about how much I weigh, that I think full-figured women should rock their curves with pride, and that I’m generally a nice person. (When I have PMS, not so much.)”

Hilarious!

What the gals were trying to get across in a spunky way was that a proper vegan diet can make anyone healthier, thus allowing them to reach the appropriate weight for themselves, which doesn’t always correspond to a size four.

Most importantly, they wanted everyone to know that Soda really is “liquid Satan” and only a “total moron” would do the Atkins diet to get thin.

Skinny Bitch launched several other Skinny Bitches, including Skinny Bitch in a Box, Skinny Bitch in the Kitch: Kick-Ass Recipes for Hungry Girls Who Want to Stop Cooking Crap (and Start Looking Hot!), and Skinny Bitch Fitness: Boot Camp to name a few.

And get ready for a booty call! The Skinny Bitch Dance workout DVD, Skinny Bitch: Booty Bounce, is set to be released in April.

The 42nd Annual CMA Awards - Show

We already know she’s a Donna Salyers’ Fabulous Fake Fur Girl, but “Don’t You Know” Kellie Pickler’s a Skinny Bitch as well.

The country music star and former American Idol contestant told That’s Fit she packed on almost 30 pounds in less than a year after going on tour with American Idol.

“We were always eating fast food on the road and having late night munchies,” she said. “I gained 28 pounds in less than a year!”

Kellie said she had to learn to “eat right,” and she did so by reading vegan authors Kim Barnouin and Rory Freedman’s Skinny Bitch, a book about the vegan diet and lifestyle.

“I appeared on the Ellen Degeneres show and we chatted about it. She told me about the book Skinny Bitch which was both really enjoyable to read and easy to understand.”

Kellie realizes the importance of following the skinny bitch diet as well: health. Although she lost her unhealthy excess fat, she realizes no diet will create a one size fits all body. She still has and loves her curves.

“I love my curves. No matter how thin I get, I always have my curves.”

Joanne Rose And Tommy Tofu Save Kids With Vegetables

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, November 26th, 2008 in Actresses, Authors, Children, Food & Drink.

Children and vegetables don’t always mix. But celebrities and vegetables do.

Joanne Rose is an Australian born actress who has made several appearances on the American big screen, including “CSI: New York”.

She is also one of the original lettuce ladies of PETA and has authored several books, including a children’s book, Tommy Tofu Saves the Day.

Tommy Tofu and several friends, including Polly Potato, Casey Carrot, Zachary Zucchini and Lucy Lettuce help teach kids why veganism is important. And even if you and your child aren’t vegan, they still do a lot to emphasize the importance of fruits and vegetables.

The book has received praise from noteworthy celebrities, including Skinny Bitch author Rory Freedman, who thought it was “adorable, educational, and fun.” Ed Begley Jr. said it was “creative and educational at the same time,” and a “must have for every child.”
