Top Chef contestant Andrea Curto-Randazzo says the celebrity she had the most fun cooking for was Mike D. of the Beastie Boys.

“I was pretty excited to cook for the Beastie Boys. While I was at Wish there were quite a few celebrities that came in. They were really cool. During the MTV Awards their manager called up and was asking about all these vegetarian things because Mike D was a vegetarian.”

Fellow band member Adam Yauch adopted a vegan diet after undergoing treatment for cancer.

And a restaurant in San Francisco, Weird Fish, thinks the Beastie Boys are so much fun, they’ve redone a traditional seafood dish into a vegan one.

Beastie Boys 'Get Out And Vote' 08 Tour

Adam Yauch of the the Beastie Boys is recovering from cancer treatments after being diagnosed with the disease in his salivary gland in July 2009.

Yauch took a trip to India to take advice from Tibetan doctors, who recommended eating a vegan, organic diet, however, Yauch found eating vegan in India is not as easy as expected.

In a message to his fans, Yauch, better known as MCA, explained:

“so i just got back from dharamsala, india. went over there to see some tibetan doctors, but as it worked out, the Dalai Lama was giving a 3 day teaching, so i was able to attend that as well.”

“i’m feeling healthy, strong and hopeful that i’ve beaten this thing, but of course time will tell. i’m taking tibetan medicine and at the recommendation of the tibetan doctors i’ve been eating a vegan/organic diet, which surprisingly enough was harder to do in india than it is now that i’m back home. here i can just shop for the right food and cook… a lot easier than depending on restaurants.”

Fellow Beastie Boy Mike D also found vegan food to be a charm, and even hired his own personal chef at one time.

The tumor was said to be in a location that did not affect Yauch’s vocal cords, but the new release date for the next album Hot Sauce Committee Part 1, which was originally set for September 15, has not been determined.

Stella McCartney Likes Simple, Home-Cooked Soup

Celebrities Attend 7th ELLE Awards

There’s nothing better than a celebrity chef who snitches.

From former White House chef Walter Scheib giving the dirt on how Chelsea Clinton went vegan to Aaron Ash, the now owner of a raw vegan foods restaurant telling how he gave Mike D of the Beastie Boys what he wanted, we love hearing from those who have spent time in some of the most private areas of a star’s life-their diet.

Eric Ienco has cooked for celebs such as Madonna, Sting’s wife Trudie Styler, Christie Turlington, and ethical fashion designer Stella McCartney.

Apparently, Stella can’t get enough of this guy’s soup.

From Roundtownnews.co.uk:

“She’s a vegetarian, through and through. I think Stella likes plain and simple home-cooked foods. I think her mum must have raised her this way – Linda was a veggie too. Stella isn’t picky but she’s very enthusiastic about my soup! I like her; she’s a good soul.”

So what’cha what’cha what’cha want? Some raw vegan food!

When Mike Diamond, aka Mike D of hip hop group, the Beastie Boys, wanted delicious raw food prepared for him, he called on his personal chef Aaron Ash.

Aaron thought that if celebrities like members of the Beastie Boys liked vegan, raw foods so much, surely regular people would too. So he opened Gorilla Foods, a raw food/vegan/organic cafe in Vancouver, BC, Canada.

Some in the US often joke about “moving to Canada” for various reasons, including the healthcare system, but hey, here’s reason #1 in our opinion.

The menu consists of vegan pizza with walnut “cheez,” Cashew Alfredo Zucchini Linguini with zucchini “Newdles” and cashew cream, and a vegan dessert menu that’s longer than the salad one. Finally!

And everything’s done without a stove top or oven.

A reviewer from the Vancouver Sun had this to say about the experience:

“When I had lunch there on a recent Saturday, I left feeling like I’d just had a refreshing shower. Raw food does that. When you think of it, it’s like salad tricked out in costume. The menu masquerades in straight-ahead offerings – pizzas, veggie burger, falafal, taco, linguini, wraps, salads, an assortment of desserts including carrot cake and cookies, juices, smoothies and shakes.”

When actor and raw foodie Woodie Harrelson is in town, Ash caters for him as well.

Yeah, you can’t front on that!
