As a former Celebrity Big Brother star, Chantelle Hougtons been a reality TV actress under the microscope and knows it’s not always fame and glory. Maybe that’s why she wants wild animals who are watched by thousands every year in circuses in the UK to get a break from the life of fame and retire peacefully in a sanctuary or be left in the jungle.

Houghton recently posed on the streets of London to protest a failure of the UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs to  ban circus animals, despite most groups that were consulted on the decision being in favor of such a ban, including the British Veterinary Association.

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, March 24th, 2011 in Actresses, Food & Drink, Models.

Chantelle Houghton has already made it clear she’s not into limp wieners.

Now, she’s giving more clues about what she looks for in another person by helping to promote PETA UK’s revised vegetarian and vegan starter kit at Covent Garden, a former fruit and vegetable market in England.

Dressed more modestly than some of her lettuce wearing predecessors who’ve donned skimpy cabbage bikinis, the former Celebrity Big Brother contestant and winner chose a short dress made of greens.

There’s nothing worse than a limp wiener.

Chantelle Houghton agrees and has posed in this PETA ad for vegetarianism that asks, “Eating Meat Got You Down? Fight Impotence. Go Vegetarian.”

Can’t agree more. Those beef and turkey wieners, for example, can’t stand up to the job during an afternoon grill out but Tofurky and Lightlife vegetarian versions–wow, those guys last for hours.

The 2006 Celebrity Big Brother winner has been vegetarian since a kid and stopped consuming dairy after reading the best selling book Skinny Bitch.

If you learn anything about health today guys and gals, it’s that eating saturated fat filled, artery clogging meat may lead to obesity, diabetes and blocking blood flow to the “essential” organs.

Or, as PETA puts it, “What goes on the barbecue has a lot to do with what goes on – or doesn’t go on – in the bedroom.”

Digital Spy Reality TV Awards - Arrivals

Chantelle Houghton gained some extra fame by being a Paris Hilton lookalike, but looks are about where the similarities end.

The Celebrity Big Brother 2006 winner is now following a strict vegan diet, according to a friend, and wants to give other British veg gals like Heather Mills and Leona Lewis a run for their money by launching several lines of  items under her name.

“She’s a strict vegan and is going to launch a new range of food, a make-up range, a perfume and her own swimwear line.”

Go Chantelle.

We hope that not only will Chantelle’s food line be vegan, but she’ll remember to keep her perfume and make-up cruelty free and free from animal products too.

Chantelle is aiming for natural in several areas of her life, including ditching the fake hair, bronze tan, and after battling bulimia, now takes pride in what she calls her new beautiful and womanly figure.

Congratulations on the new and healthier you, Chantelle. Have a piece of vegan cake on us.
