Bryce Dallas Howard revealed to Self Magazine that she took to eating meat again on the advice of a medical “professional.”

“I actually had a rare condition that was triggered by pregnancy, where consuming the amino acids from meat became critical to my health. My doctor sat me down and finally said, “Bryce, you need to choose between your ethics and your future.” The transition was emotional, but I was grateful to my doctor for putting things in perspective for me, and I’m grateful that I can still appreciate where my food comes from.”

Bryce doesn’t mention the name of her medical condition, but unless you’re allergic to soy, the old myth that only meat contains all necessary amino acids is as phony as the “vegetarian” vampires in Eclipse.

“Eclipse” Bryce Dallas Howard Diet Not Like Taylor Lautner

"Terminator Salvation" Japan Premiere

Bryce Dallas Howard is reportedly taking steps to slim down for the cameras that will be spotlighting her during the Eclipse press tour that begins June 2010.

Howard’s plan includes using a detox cleansing system and avoiding oils.

“Bryce is not looking to lose 20 pounds,” says her rep, Stephen Huvane, according to eonline.com.

“She does cleanse from time to time, but the one you describe is not at all what she has done in the past or has any plans to do,” Huvane added in regards to a stringent plan described by the source.

Regardless of how Howard will lose the undesired pounds, one thing’s for sure–she won’t be using any Taylor Lautner tactics to get there.

Howard is a vegetarian, who used to be a vegan, until pregnancy made her switch back, fearing she’d lose essential nutrients required while carrying a child.

To get his ripped abs and V hips, Lautner became a meat and sweet potato addict, even carrying baggies of the “drug” around to get his fix every few hours.

“Yeah, so I carry around a Baggie and it has meat patties in it,” Lautner told Entertainment Weekly.

“The worst is not the patties. It’s the sweet potatoes. They get raw and cold and gushy.”

Eww. The worst is having to listen to Lautner describe his carnivorous vice.

Best of luck to Howard.

Bet fans can’t wait to see her on the Eclipse tour next year!

Veg Bryce Dallas Howard To Star In Twilight Series Eclipse

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, July 31st, 2009 in Actresses, Film & TV.

Terminator Salvation Japan Premiere

A vegetarian will play a vampire in the third installment of the Twilight series, Eclipse, but not one of the “vegetarian” vampires.

Bryce Dallas Howard has been cast as Victoria (previously played by Rachelle Lefevre), a mean-spirited vampire who’s out to get Bella.

Howard was inspired to go vegan by Joaquin Phoenix, but went back to vegetarian during her pregnancy.

Eclipse is scheduled to begin filming in August.

The Twilight films are based on a novel series by author Stephenie Meyer, and feature the Cullen family, a clan of “vegetarian” vampires who feast on animals instead of people.

One of the main characters and love interest of vegetarian vampire Edward Cullen, Bella (Kristen Stewart), is a real vegetarian who likes Gardenburgers.

Pregnancy Makes Female Celebrities All Weird And Meat Seeking

11th Annual Hollywood Awards - Arrivals

What is it about pregnancy that makes some women go off on the meat hunt?

Brooke Shields was a vegetarian for over a decade until her pregnancy when she decided she thought her body “needed” meat.

Bryce Dallas Howard kept to her vegetarian ways, but gave up being vegan because she was afraid of not getting enough amino acids in her diet.

And Jennifer Connelly’s bun in the oven made her say, “Gobble, gobble.”

From an interview with Marie Claire Magazine:

“I’d been vegan for many years, and then all of a sudden when I was pregnant with Kai, I wanted a turkey burger. That was the end of my being vegan.”

Uh, the end of being vegetarian too, unless it was a Tofurky burger.

But hormones can do some good things for a famous mother to be. Rebecca Romijn sent Jerry O’Connell to stalk the non-dairy aisle of the store when she wanted her soy cream cheese.
