Quantcast Vegetarian StarKristen Stewart

Kristen Stewart

Kristen Stewart has shared a recipe for one of her favorite dishes in the September issue of Vogue magazine.

Sometimes it’s fun to see how easy it is to vegify or veganize a recipe with one or two non veggie ingredients, and this tortilla soup featured in the “Vogue Eats Food Guide” of the popular fashion Bible is one kitchen experiment you’re guranteed to pass.

Veg Bryce Dallas Howard To Star In Twilight Series Eclipse

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, July 31st, 2009 in Actresses, Film & TV.

Terminator Salvation Japan Premiere

A vegetarian will play a vampire in the third installment of the Twilight series, Eclipse, but not one of the “vegetarian” vampires.

Bryce Dallas Howard has been cast as Victoria (previously played by Rachelle Lefevre), a mean-spirited vampire who’s out to get Bella.

Howard was inspired to go vegan by Joaquin Phoenix, but went back to vegetarian during her pregnancy.

Eclipse is scheduled to begin filming in August.

The Twilight films are based on a novel series by author Stephenie Meyer, and feature the Cullen family, a clan of “vegetarian” vampires who feast on animals instead of people.

One of the main characters and love interest of vegetarian vampire Edward Cullen, Bella (Kristen Stewart), is a real vegetarian who likes Gardenburgers.

Kristen Stewart Lands Second Vegetarian Role In The Runaways

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, June 25th, 2009 in Actresses, Film & TV.

Twilight star Kristen Stewart exits a recording studio in North Hollywood sporting her new dark mullet hair style

Kristen Stewart will portray veggie singer and musician Joan Jett in the upcoming film, The Runaways, which portrays Joan’s life and the 70s band she fronted.

And you thought the dark mullet was just a fashion change for the actress who’ll be starring in New Moon, the sequel to Twilight this fall.

Looks like Kristen will be playing a vegetarian again.

Although technically Joan became a vegetarian after the Runaways, she’s been quite active with promoting the lifestyle, whether it’s recording PSAs, visiting farm sanctuaries, or casually mentioning her diet in interviews.

In Twilight, Kristen played vegetarian Bella, the love interest of vegetarian vampire Edward Cullen, who was seen enjoying Garden Burgers with her dad at the local diner in Forks, Washington. She even once told  him he should try one sometime instead of his usual steak.

Coincidence? A “Twilight” moment?

Robert Pattinson: Some Veggie Burgers Grow In The Garden

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, March 23rd, 2009 in Actors.

Twilight Press Conference

Hey all you vegetarian vampire fans. The Twilight DVD has recently come out and if you have what they call OCD, or “Obsessive Cullen Disorder,” you’ll be checking out the DVD’s extras, such as the watching the movie with commentary by Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and director Catherine Hardwicke.

During such commentary, the group starts talking about the shot where Bella is eating a vegetarian burger at the diner with her dad. Rob mentions he was talking about veggie burgers with Hayley Williams, singer from the band Paramore, that has a couple of songs on the soundtrack.

Hayley mentioned Gardenburgers, and Rob says he’d never heard of a veggie burger being called a “garden burger.”

Director Catherine Hardwicke says that a “garden burger” is a little more elegant way of saying veggie burger. To which Rob replies, “I think a veggie burger is much nicer. It sounds much more appealing. Garden burger sounds like something you found in the garden.”

Aw, did Rob just diss Gardenburgers without even knowing it?

If you know Gardenburger, you know they have a plethora of veggie patties, from Flamed-Grilled to Black Bean Chipotle to Garden Vegan. And you know they don’t taste like dirt!

We’ll have to educate Rob on Gardenburgers some day.

Is Twilight Saga Really Animal Friendly?

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009 in Actors, Actresses, Animal Issues, Film & TV.

Twilight - Germany Premiere

Rob Pattinson and Kristen Stewart’s Twilight Saga snagged a Libby Award for Most Animal Friendly movie, but did voters watch the entire flick?

Yes, Bella ate vegetarian meals throughout the movie like Gardenburgers, spinach salad, and mushroom ravioli, but that may be where the animal friendliness ended.

The “vegetarian vampires” were the biggest paradox. Vegetarian to these blood sucking guys and gals meant avoiding human flesh and eating animals instead-which in our world of daylight and non Topaz colored eyed humans is the very contradiction of a vegetarian.

A deer is killed at the beginning of the movie. Characters wore fur in some scenes.

Is this the most liberal of animal friendly recognitions one can receive?

The winners were decided by a vote from peta2.org’s audience, so the readers may have automatically voted for the most popular movie that mentioned anything vegetarian or animal without doing their homework.

Personally, we cast our vote for the Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson big screen hit, Marley & Me, which used rescue dogs on the set.

Robert Pattinson: Being A Vegetarian Vampire Hard On The Eyes

Written by Vegetarian Star on Saturday, January 3rd, 2009 in Actors.

Twilight actor Robert Pattinson has a hair raising experience - London

The vegetarian vampires of the Twilight saga are like vegetarian humans who call themselves vegetarian but say they eat chicken. Yeah…not really.

But if you’re a vampire living in Forks, Washington, then refraining from eating humans and eating forest creatures instead is vegetarian. Vampire readers in Forks, you know what we’re talking about right? Never mind, we don’t really want that question answered.

Robert Pattinson plays vegetarian vampire Edward Cullen, who thanks to his “vegetarian” diet, has topaz colored eyes. The producers couldn’t find a real human with topaz colored eyes, so when Robert got the part, they forced him to wear topaz colored contact lenses. And they can make a vegetarian vampire quite grumpy.

He told Britain’s Ok Magazine he isn’t looking forward to shooting the sequel New Moon, because he has to wear the lenses.

“It was like I constantly had sand in my eyes. I was wearing them for three months constantly and my eyes never ever accepted them! It took me 20 minutes per eye every single day and I ended up having to literally fold it into my eyeball.”

Not only that, but they inhibit vampire seductive skills.

“It was frustrating as well because normally your eyes are saying something, but if you’ve got two orange blobs in your face it’s so annoying! The director would say, ‘Look at her (Kristen Stewart) like you love her,’ and I’d be like, ‘I’m trying!'”

At least he gets the reward of munching on some forest critters in his trailer between scenes.
