Quantcast Vegetarian StarBob Harper vegan

The Biggest Loser‘s vegan coach Bob Harper has created his own line of nutritional supplements.

Expect to see Bob Harper’s Smart Success on the shelves sometime in April.

Vegetarians and vegans can also expect not to be disappointed, as Harper says on his blog he was careful to work with a manufacturer who adhered to his strict, animal-free standards.

“When I first started thinking about this project I had a very long laundry list of what I wanted for my products. Namely, I was looking for clinically proven key ingredients. I wanted it to be vegan and vegetarian friendly. It needed to be gluten free and dairy free. I wanted veggie caps. I wanted supportive ingredients like natural goji berry & pomegranate. The list went on and on – and the world-class company I teamed up with delivered on every single item.”

“I think one of the biggest benefits for me was when I went from an animal diet to a plant-based diet, my cholesterol dropped over 100 points within a month. My doctor was floored by that. I feel like there is a fountain of youth attached to living a vegan lifestyle.”

Meatless Mouthful–Bob Harper Inspired By A Skinny Bitch

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, October 28th, 2010 in Food & Drink, Meatless Mouthful, TV Hosts.

“I was at a friend’s house and it was right when Skinny Bitch came out. And she was like, “You need to read this book.” The title totally threw me off; I said, “I’m not reading some book that’s called Skinny Bitch.” But I took it with me on vacation and I was really interested and blown away by it at the same time.”

Bob Harper, in an interview with VegNews in the magazine’s November/December 2010 issue, on how he first became interested in going vegetarian. Never judge a book by its cover. Or name. For men like Harper who are a little taken aback by Skinny Bitch, the sisters in sassiness, Freedman and Barnouin, have conveniently written the male counterpart to Bitch, Skinny Bastard. And let’s not forget John Joseph will make men feel like little girls if they continue to eat meat after reading, Meat Is For Pussies.

Saving our men. One title at a time.

“I enjoy living a plant-based diet because it makes me feel clear headed and strong, not to mention my genetically high cholesterol dropped more than 100 points. That was all the motivation I needed.”

Harper, who has criticized high animal protein diets as a way to lose weight, recommends Biggest Loser contestants either follow a vegetarian diet, or one that is mostly plant based while competing on the show.

For lunch I have brown rice and black beans. I always have Melba toast. Melba toast seems like an old lady thing to eat but I’m getting my servings of grain from that. Then dinner is always going be plenty of vegetables because I’m a vegetarian.”

Be an old lady like Bob and get yourself some grains!

Put whole grains like barley, brown rice, buckwheat, bulgur, millet, oatmeal and popcorn on your next shopping list.

“The Biggest Loser” Bob Harper Loves Barbecue Popchips

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, September 30th, 2009 in Food & Drink, Reality TV.

The NBC Universal Experience

The Biggest Loser coach Bob Harper interviewed with Never Say Diet, where he revealed what a typical day of his vegetarian diet consisted of.

Bob used to have a craving for chocolate, but since saying good-bye to the artificial sweeteners, it’s all about the Popchips now.

“I freakin’ love Pop Chips!” Bob said. “They come to my house and I’m like, Nicole [his assistant] get them out of my house! The barbecue flavor is my favorite.”

“They all know that I’m a vegetarian now. I tried to keep that under wraps for a while. It’s different for everyone, but I always try to hit three basic food groups and protein is number four in my book. I’m wanting people to get their fruits, vegetables and their grains and that to me is a well-balanced diet. Yes, your body needs protein, but it doesn’t need as much protein as everybody thinks it needs. I’m just trying to get people to eat their vegetables again. I’m like everybody’s father in America right now going “eat your vegetables.” It’s so sad that in 2009, people are still scared of carbohydrates. It’s sad that people are still thinking that you’re getting fat from eating carbs.”

NBCs Fall Premiere Party

Bob Harper has been tweeting away his vegetarian recommendations lately.

The personal trainer who serves to get the Blue team in shape on NBC’s The Biggest Loser, has revealed he loves vegan cheese and almond milk.

From @BobHarperAnthem:

“Try choosing a cheese alternative today to replace your regular one. You will be surprised how great some of them taste, my fav, vegan rella.”

“Try using Almond Milk today instead of cow’s milk today. It is a healthy alternative and tastes GREAT!!”

Sweet deal, Bob!

Wouldn’t it be incredibly cool if The Biggest Loser had contestants do veg diets while they were losing weight?

Between Bob’s recommendations for milk and cheese substitutes and Jillian Michaels almost being completely vegetarian except for a few fish here and there, they could really show the world the best body is a veggie body.
