Beatles Abbey Road

Food sculptor Paul Baker was commissioned by the Beefeater Grill UK restaurant chain to recreate the Beatles’ famous Abbey Road cover. Ironically, the chain’s beefy name didn’t prevent Baker from keeping vegetarian Paul McCartney‘s ideals in mind. While the rest of the album is crafted from breakfast foods like sausage and bacon, Baker ensured McCartney was made of mushrooms.

According to some sources, Paul McCartney wasn’t introduced to vegetarianism by Linda McCartney until the mid 70s. Sounds true, cause there would be no way Paul would have posed with raw meat cuts for the Beatles’ Yesterday and Today album cover in 1966.

The Telegraph has a story on several artists who’ve pulled a raw meat Gaga stunt and when the album was created, the Beatles wanted to make a statement about the Vietnam war by posing as butchers with chunks of meat and butchered dolls.

Advanced copies of the album created too much controversy, so the record label’s management ordered a new cover, but many of the originals still remain.

It’s been awhile since Paul McCartney had beef on a bun, so it’s only fit that the McDonald’s in his home town of Liverpool finally take those pictures of him and other Beatles off the wall.

The story made headlines a couple of years ago, when it was reported the singer was upset that over a dozen shots of the 60s iconic rock group were plastered over the Sefton Street fast food restaurant.

Paul McCartney Letter To Pamela Anderson: Preaching To The Choir

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, April 29th, 2009 in Actresses, Male Musicians, Male Singers.

Pamela Anderson, Chrissie Hynde and Paul McCartney Maybe Paul McCartney is getting old.

The famous vegetarian Ex Beatle has written a letter to former Baywatch babe Pamela Anderson detailing all the benefits of a vegetarian diet.

But why on earth is he telling this to Pamela, who’s been a vegetarian for years?

“There are several reasons for a shift in a much lower input of meat in human diets if not complete vegetarianism…Quite apart from reasons of compassion for animals, a move towards vegetarian diets would also address the crisis in the global food market which leaves the poorest of the poor severely malnourished and ill-fed with food prices that have climbed to substantial heights in recent months largely because of diversion of food grains for conversion into animal proteins.”

Like duh. Pamela knows that dude.

Move over Gordon Ramsay. Paul McCartney has officially scored another point in the Ramsay-McCartney meatoff, showing he can cook too. And amazingly, he used no profanity. Not even during his fight with Glovey.

Watch the video showing Paul McCartney teaching you how to make homemade mashed potatoes his way-from scratch! He advocates using non-hydrogenated margarine because it’s healthier, but says the amount you put in depends on how “naughty,” you want to be.

This recipe is taken from his late wife, Linda’s cookbook. Here’s a link to a couple of other recipes from her book.

This can be veganized as Paul says you can use soymilk in place of regular milk. Pay extra attention at minute 4:00 when Paul gets into a scuffle with his oven glove, Glovey.
