Fran Drescher

Fran Drescher said she wanted to throw a few vegan-friendly episodes in her new daytime talk show, The Fran Drescher Tawk Show.

A woman who sticks to her word is worth watching!

Drescher recently hosted Chloe Coscarelli, the vegan baker who won last year’s Cupcake Wars on the Food Network.

Drescher said months ago that although she’s not a vegan, she’s “vegan-curious.” Her curiosity and taste buds were satisfied as Coscarelli explained how vegans strive to exclude all animal products, including byproducts from their diets and even ensure their clothing is free from animal products.

Fran revealed she has a cousin who’s a hardcore vegan just like Coscarelli.

During the cake demonstration, Coscarelli suggested adding vinegar to a cake mix keeps it moist, essentially replacing the egg. And since there’re no raw eggs in the batter, feel free to lick to spoon, something Coscarelli said is one of the “best things about vegan baking.”

Bill Clinton

Here are a few of the top vegetarian stories featuring the famous and those who rose to fame because of their stance on food, animals and the environment.

10. The Apprentice is vegetarian. Brandy Kuentzel ran an eco-friendly cupcake truck before she was hired as Trump’s leading business lady. She revealed to us during an interview that she’d love to host a show with her best friend about all things sustainable. That show can’t come soon enough as we need some anti Paula Deen sausage segments on daytime.

9. A vegan baker wins “Cupcake Wars.” Chloe Coscarelli showed the world vegan is tasty. Very tasty. She won the war on the Food Network with her recipes for Ginger Nutmeg Spice with Date Caramel Drizzle, Chocolate Strawberry Shortcake, Crème-filled Chocolate Orange with Candied Orange Peel, and Raspberry Tiramisu.

“I have served an all-vegan Thanksgiving to the most die-hard carnivores and no one misses the meat. You don’t need animal products to capture the spirit and savory flavors of Thanksgiving on your table. I personally think that a vegan Thanksgiving is more exciting than a regular one — there’s always something new and it’s not just the same old spread. The plates are pretty darn clean when we get up from the table.”

Chloe Coscarelli, vegan chef who won the Food Network’s “Cupcake Wars,” competition with her vegan desserts. Coscarelli is featuring several Thanksgiving recipes on the New York Times “Well” blog, which is publishing a vegetarian or vegan recipe every day until Thanksgiving. Lea Michele Shares Vegan Cupcake Secret With “Glee” Cast

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, October 1st, 2010 in Actresses, Chefs, Food & Drink, Recipes.

Lea Michele‘s cast mate on Glee, Chris Colfer, joked about putting meat in one of her vegetarian dishes. Totally NOT funny, but the joke is on him and the rest of the cast because Michele once secretly gave the guys (and gals) on the set some cupcakes without telling them they were animal-free.

“I had vegan cupcakes on my birthday,” Michele said at PETA’s 30th Anniversary Gala. “Once you eat a vegan cupcake–I once put out vegan cupcakes for the whole crew and didn’t tell them that they were vegan. And they were like, those are the best cupcakes I ever had. And then the next day I was like ‘They were vegan. See, you can eat vegan food.’”
