Heather Mills “Dancing On Ice” With Less Vegan Muffins

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, January 8th, 2010 in Food & Drink, Reality TV.

Heather Mills Has A New Look And A New Cause?

Heather Mills is competing in this season’s Dancing On Ice, which premiers tonight at 9PM on ITV1.

According to The Evening Times, Heather took the time to bring vegan cakes to the show’s participants this year, but is trying to stay away from the dairy and egg free desserts herself.

“I am looking forward to wearing my catsuits but I’ve had to be careful not to put weight on and stay off my vegan chocolate muffins!” Heather said, according to The Sun.

Fattening up the competition is a great way to gain an edge.

“MTV Real World”–Who Would You (The Vegan Edition)

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, January 6th, 2010 in Polls/Surveys, Reality TV, Who Would You.

It’s been years since the original MTV Real World cast member Eric Nies took off his shirt and enticed the ladies (and maybe the gentlemen) with his ripped abs.

Nies went on to become a vegan life coach.

Now, Callie from Texas on Real World XXIII, a female young enough to be Nies’ daughter is already ahead of the game, proudly announcing she’s already taken the road less traveled by cattle.

Would a vegan have even come out of the closet on MTV over a decade ago?

Between the two Real World stars, who would you rather do…

MTV Real World Washington D.C.–Callie The Texas Vegan

MTV Real World XXIII Washington, D.C. Callie-the vegan from Texas.

It seems as if MTV Real World likes to cast with the idea to create the most diverse, yet dysfunctional household every season, ultimately leading to several of the reality TV stars feeling like fishes out of water.

This season’s mix of cast features Callie, a vegan from Texas.

Hmm…A vegan from the south.

Has Callie already experienced what it’s like to feel out of place?

From MTV.com:

“A free-spirit vegan, Callie has always felt a little out of place in her conservative Texas town, and she’s just chomping at the bit to break free and chase her dreams of becoming a photographer. In D.C., she hopes to find the kinds of outlets for her creativity that don’t exist in small-town Texas and make some new friends along the way”

Wishing Callie the vegan best of luck on the show and in pursuing her dreams.

Hope she keeps the Vegetarian Guide to Washington, D.C bookmarked on her Internet browser.

Kim Kardashian has announced she’d like to improve her diet in 2010.

“Just to spend a little bit more time with my family and my friends and to really kick it up in the workout department and to try to eat better, Kim told US Magazine of her New Year’s resolution.”I cannot get it together with eating. I eat way too many Oreos.”

Hopefully, she’s going in the direction of sis Chloe and trying to eat more vegetarian.

But it’s hard to imagine that happening while she’s promoting that darn Carl Jr’s chicken salad.

What happened to the tofu, veggie burgers and quinoa Kim gobbled up while filming her fitness DVD series?

Will they make a comeback?

“Celebrity Big Brother” House Fur Rug Animal Hell

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, January 1st, 2010 in Fur, Reality TV.

Night Of Heroes - Arrivals

The new Celebrity Big Brother House has been unveiled and residents like Coronation Street‘s Kym Marsh, Stephanie Beacham and MC Hammer will have the chance to cuddle up with some very animal unfriendly furnishings.

BBC News reports:

“Producers have opted for a gothic, hellish decor, based on Dante’s Inferno and philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre’s notion that “Hell is other people”.

Hellish is a mild word to describe the living room area.

From looking at the photos, there are fur rugs and leather sofas.

Sure, there are other scary features like skulls on the pillows, but what could be creepier than lying against the hide of a previous living creature?

Makes you wanna get evicted.

Vegetarian Boy George was banned from the show due to his probation restrictions.

Too bad, because at least he could have cooked veg food for everyone to offset all that bad animal karma (kameleon).

The NBC Universal Experience

Bob Harper is the kind of man every woman dreams of–he loves spending time in the kitchen.

“I love to cook. Love, love, to cook,” Bob told PEOPLE. “When I’m in L.A., I cook every night that I’m home. It’s really relaxing to me.”

The Biggest Loser coach who lost dozens of points off his cholesterol after going vegetarian insists he never grows bored with cooking the same beans and rice every evening.

“People are always asking, ‘If I’m a vegetarian, are my options limited? My answer is no way! There are so many great recipes out there to choose from, and I also love to experiment with different vegetables and grains. Guests are always surprised when they come over for dinner and I whip up pasta.”

Bob has given PEOPLE an idea of what he might whip up one evening at his LA residence, Roasted Vegetable Salad with Vinaigrette Dressing.

Zucchini, bell peppers and chickpeas are just a few of the delicious ingredients in one of Bob’s favorite salads.

Bethenny Frankel PETA Ad–Not Everyone Likes A Naked Bethenny

Bethenny Frankel "I'd Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur" PETA Ad

Bethenny Frankel "I'd Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur" PETA Ad

Who would have thought a harmless little nude photo would stir up so much commotion?

Vegetarians and animal activists may love Bethenny Frankel‘s PETA “I’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur” Ad, but other people, including her own Real Housewives girlfriends, think differently.

Some are wondering why non vegetarian Bethenny, who reportedly has a new cookbook full of chicken recipes, could even begin to criticize someone for wearing fur.

PETA responded by saying, “Bethenny is not a vegan and never claimed to be. She has, however, brought much-needed attention to PETA’s anti-fur campaign.”

And do those naysayers remember that Bethenny has given love to plenty of vegetarian recipes, including dishes with tofu and Boca Burgers?

But even if Bethenny turned total veggie, some still would find fault at how sperminated Bethenny chose to have her PETA ad air brushed to cover her pregnancy weight gain.

New Jersey Housewife Teresa Giudice sniped, “Someone tell Bethenny that sperm does not make you look fat. I’m not buying the airbrushing thing in any case.”

Sigh…Some people are too hard to please.

The Cinema Society Screening Of "The Young Victoria" - After Party

Real Housewives of New York City star Kelly Bensimon asked on Twitter why she shouldn’t wear fur.

But having a compassionate heart isn’t good enough for Bensimon, she just wants the cold, hard facts.

“Fur really gets u guys fired up. Let’s talk facts, not emotion. Tell me factually why peeps shouldn’t wear fur. I want to know, facts only.”

Well, well…if you have to be blunt.

Animals killed for fur in North America are put to sleep with carbon monoxide or carbon dioxide gas, according to the Fur Commission of USA.

But an investigation by Care for the Wild, EAST International and the Swiss Animal Protection (SAP) titled “Fun Fur? A Report on the Chinese Fur Industry” found animals were killed inhumanely by being skinned alive, still having a heartbeat and taking a breath 5-10 minutes after being skinned.

Ah, but that’s still too emotional for Kelly.

What about being totally environmentally unfriendly!

Global Action Network, an animal and environment protection agency has much to say on this issue.

Fur itself is natural, but the process to make it stable (aka lasting longer than most of your relationships) involves using formaldehyde, chromium and other chemicals the EPA states cause respiratory problems and are possible carcinogens.

And a study released by the New York state Department of Health found half of testicular cancer victims worked in the fur tanning industry.

With that said, hope Kelly is wearing a fake in this photo.

Maybe she should be spending more time with the naked, fur-free housewife Bethenny?
