Like many vegetarians who travel to a country different than their home, Shahid Kapoor is a little nervous about finding decent food in Bangkok.

Shahid was scheduled to leave today for Thailand to begin filming for a Parmeet Sethi film.

Shahid recalled the last time he was in the U.S. for 40 days, his assistant had to work extra hard to make sure chefs cooked everything to his preference, as he’s a vegetarian who has some vegan streaks in him, like not eating eggs.

Does Shahid’s right hand man know about Happycow.com, where he can find dozens of vegetarian eateries in Bangkok, or anywhere else in the world?

Wishing Shahid best of luck.

Hunger sure gets in the way of good acting.

In an exclusive interview w/ the Examiner she reveals a few makeup and diet tips & more saying “I go all organic vegetarian, lot of fruits and water! I workout daily, the usual “star” stuff:) I get plenty of sleep, I think that helps, too. And I never go outside without my parasol to lessen the sun rays to the skin. Yes, my friends make fun of me but I know it works, and what works on camera works for me:)”

Mallika even goes so far as to shun dairy, getting her calcium from almond, cashew and soy milk.

“I have been strictly vegetarian ever since I can remember,” she said. “I am against the concept of killing an animal to eat it.”

Gorgeous Pam would have no problem fitting in-beauty or dietwise.

Asin Thottumkal Not Checked By PETA’s Meat Offender Database

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, July 8th, 2009 in Actresses, Bollywood, Not So Vegetarian.

The 2009 International Indian Film Academy Awards

Bollywood actress Asin Thottumkal has turned down PETA to promote vegetarianism.

“After I entered the film industry, I restricted my non-veg diet to fish and chicken,” she said. “I can’t, however, remain without non-veg food even for a single day. Therefore, it won’t be proper for me to involve myself in the campaign against non-vegetarian food.”

So this gal is no Kareena Kapoor or Mallika Sherawat.

But a big question burning in our minds is: Didn’t PETA do a background check?

Sure, the guys are excited to get celebrities naked, or uh, have celebrities promote a healthy and compassionate diet and lifestyle, but do they think before inviting them to take off their clothes, or uh, star in pro-vegetarian ads?

You would think the group would target well known celebs who don’t flip flop about their diet, like Kareena or Mallika, for example.

It’s great PETA wants to feature as many celebrities as possible in their campaigns, but they must be careful to choose those with the strongest convictions with a solid history of sticking to their principles.

Otherwise, we get these Naomi Campbell, “I’d rather go naked than wear fur”,… “Oh, wait. Who am I kidding, I still dig fur,” spokespersons.

PETA To Amitabh Bachchan: Go Veg To Go Green At IIFA Event!

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, May 27th, 2009 in Actors, Bollywood, Environment-Eco-Green.

Chandni Chowk To China UK Premiere In London

Amitabh Bachchan is a longtime vegetarian and PETA wants him to encourage others to do so by serving only vegetarian food at an India International Film Academy (IIFA) event in Macau, China next month.

After all, the theme for the event is “Go-Green,” and what environmentalist doesn’t know by now that meat isn’t environmentally friendly.

PETA India chief functionary Anuradha Sawhney sent a letter to Bachchan containing the following statement:

“We were thrilled to hear that this year’s IIFA Awards are going to have a ‘Go Green’ theme, and we commend you for helping to once again draw attention to the global climate crisis. On behalf of PETA India and all our members and supporters, we respectfully ask you to serve only green (vegetarian) food at the event.”

“By doing so, you will send a strong message that people can save the planet simply by changing their dietary habits.”

Do you know any environmentalists who really haven’t “gone green all the way” yet? Are they missing the connection between wasted land and energy in raising farm animals for human food consumption (not to mention other animal consumption)?

Get in the game and drop them a little note like the one sent to Bachchan! Some one’s gotta remind them that meat’s not green!
