Celebs Attend Chopard Celebrates Gala!

Gwyneth Paltrow packs her kids’ lunch boxes with plenty of vegetarian sushi and almond butter and jelly sandwiches.

This was revealed in the latest edition of Goop, the actress’ online newsletter.

According to Gwyneth, veggie sushi is, “A great way to use leftover cooked rice and sneak some extra vegetables into your kid’s diet—not to mention a great way to get rid of those extra soy sauce packages that always seem to accumulate in the kitchen drawer.”

No kidding.

How many times have you thrown away those dozens of soy sauce packages, along with the two dozen more salt and pepper condiments that have hardened since your last visit from Chinese take out?

Be eco-friendly and save money by using them before purchasing similar condiments from the grocery.

Gwyneth’s recipe uses asparagus wrapped inside sheets of Nori and brown rice, but adds you can substitute any vegetable you’d like, including carrots, cucumbers or mushrooms.

Nori makes a great substitute for bread or tortilla wraps and is rich in Iodine and Vitamins A and C.

Vanessa Williams was surprised to find out there were so many harmful ingredients in bath and beauty products.

Celebrity Baby Scoop quoted her as saying, “I’ve been a vegetarian and a devotee of holistic medicine for years. But nothing prepared me for the… harmful toxic chemicals that are in our cosmetics and shampoos… I was trying to get rid of everything in my house that had sodium lauryl sulfates, parabens, and other chemicals.”

You’ve made the decision to stop eating or eat less meat and are finally weening yourself off dairy.

You buy organic produce, nothing white goes in your stomach and think trans fat is a word so dirty, the FCC should ban it.

So why are you still using lotion with polyethylene glycol, otherwise known as PEG, a class of compounds in moisturizers that enhance the penetration of ingredients besides moisture–like heavy metals.

A trip to the Cosmetics Database and typing your favorite shampoo or brand may give you a valuable lesson and make you rethink what soap to buy next week.

“I’m always looking for ways to get my kids to eat greens. They’ll eat one baby carrot and then say, “I’m done!” My kids are definitely picky—I think most kids are, so I’m a big fan of sneaking veggies into their diets. I’m fine with them dipping their greens in ranch dressing or even ice cream. Whatever it takes!”

Jennie Garth, to Time Out, on ways to get her kids to eat vegetables, including dipping them in ice cream.
That’s a new one. There’s a restaurant in New York City that compares food that grows from the ground as Dirt Candy, but this is extreme.

Loretta Swit “Hot Lips” Houlihan On Animal Radio

Lint Roller Party Hollywood

Loretta Swit will guest star on the AM/FM/XM Satellite Radio broadcast of Animal Radio on May 8 at Noon EST and then rebroadcast on May 9 at 5PM EST.

The vegetarian actress best known for her role as Major Margaret “Hot Lips” Houlihan on M*A*S*H, is speaking out about the recent decision of the U.S. Supreme Court to strike down a law that would have made it illegal to market animal crush videos, films depicting animals being…well, crushed.

“These videos are usually sexual in nature and some pervert will buy them to get his gillie out of,” said Swit.

“It’s horrendous the imagination that would conjure up such an evil thing.”

Swit’s own pets live a life far from the animals in the videos, as she has animals with wheelchairs because they’re so old.

And she will talk to fans wearing fur coats about their decisions.

“It’s all about education. If someone comes up to me for an autograph and they’re wearing a fur-coat, before I sign, I will educate. Because sometimes, they simply don’t know 80 animals died for that coat.”

Rue McClanahan arrives for Bea Arthur Memorial Service in New York

The recent ad in the Chicago Tribune featuring Bea Arthur urging McDonald’s to adopt more humane slaughter practices is just one of the ways the famous Golden Girls stood up for animal rights.

Arthur, Betty White and Rue McClanahan had all recorded a commercial for an anti-fur ad in the past and White is an outspoken proponent of animals in shelters.

You may not have known about McClanahan’s involvement with a stray cat charity, Alley Cat Allies, as the actress partnered with the group to raise awareness for feral cats and Trap-Neuter-Return programs, according to the LA Times.

“Cats have always been a part of my life, ever since I was a little girl in Oklahoma,” McClanahan said of her work on behalf of Alley Cat Allies. “In fact, my most recent cat, Kate, was a stray that just showed up at my back door in Manhattan, walked right in and has been in charge ever since.”
