Premiere Of Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle - Arrivals
“There’s a big scene where we do finally make it to White Castle and eat some burgers. And the producers had the food technicians make some really good veggie burgers that looked like meat. I probably ate about 30 of them.”

—-Kal Penn, who played “Kumar,” in the movie Harold and Kumar go to White Castle. As a vegetarian for cultural, religious, and ethical reasons, he needed a little change in the script in order to perform his role.

Does Peta Forgive Russell Brand’s Dead Animal Tossing Too?

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, November 3rd, 2008 in Actors.

Russell Brand Portrait Session

So Peta stands by its people (unless they decide to wear fur after pledging not to or are caught munching on pork rinds by the paparazzi). Even though Russell Brand’s association with their vegetarian starter kit brought complaints and criticism due to an on-air prank he participated in, they stood by their decision to keep him as the cover boy. But do they know about his dead animal toss up act a few years ago?

An article from Female First has recently been brought to attention that Russell Brand once performed a live show where he threw dead animals at the audience. If you could only afford front row seats to that one. Granted, he didn’t eat the dead animals or ask anyone in the audience to taste them.

But still, does Peta know about this? Not that it will change their opinions, but how does this change your opinion on him? Do you find this completely unacceptable for a person promoting a vegetarian lifestyle?

Obviously, people change their ways and no one is perfect. This is just one of the many items on Brand’s shock record, which include an arrest for stripping in a protest march and filming himself taking a bath with a homeless man and living with a prostitute.

Marcia, Marcia, Marcia: Try Tofu, Tofu, Tofu!

The 43rd Annual Academy Of Country Music Awards - Arrivals

It’s been awhile since Maureen McCormick had a chance to run around and bug Greg Brady on the set of the late 60s and 70s show, “The Brady Bunch.” Consequently, with no Greg, Peter, or Bobby, or even Jan and Cindy to bother, “Marcia,” has been a little sedentary and put on a few pounds.

To regain her youthful Hollywood figure, she signed up for the Vh1 series Celebrity Fit Club to help shed a few pounds. She competed and won, but still feels work needs to be done. The folks at Peta think they can help. They’ve sent her a vegetarian starter kit, and told her the best way to slim down is to go vegan. An excerpt from the letter:

“Not only will a vegan diet help you slim down, it will also help you fight an array of ailments, including heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, and certain types of cancer. Going vegan is also the easiest thing that you can do save the environment and spare the lives of thousands of animals who are slaughtered for food each year. It’s never too late to turn over a new leaf…”

It would be incredible to have Marcia, Marcia, Marcia, go vegan, vegan, vegan, and come out as the next veg celeb. Of course, Peta’s got a stake in this too. From Celebrity Fit Club to Celebrity Strip (for Peta ads) Club, we’re sure they’re hoping she’ll sign up for a membership.

R & B soul diva, India.Arie will admit to liking a wide variety of foods, but still is careful about what she puts in her mouth.

“I really like most curry dishes, Thai food, and tofu. Although I like a lot of different things, I don’t take a lot of risks with food because I’m very particular about what I put in my body.”

Luckily, for the Grammy award winning singer, a vegetarian diet is full of variety to spice up her palate and finding a restaurant that suits her needs isn’t hard to do-even in other continents.

While traveling in South Africa, she found the equivalent of a vegetarian “hole-in-the-wall,”-a small vegetarian restaurant ran by a single woman.

“She used a meat substitute she got from Durban in southeast Africa. I went every day for a week to eat there.”

When back in the U.S., she’s a fan of Annie’s Natural Goddess Dressing, raw almond butter, and frozen bananas in smoothies.
