Quantcast Vegetarian StarSNL

Justin Timberlake

Justin Timberlake‘s recent SNL skit transformed him into a block of tofu cheering on quinoa, brown rice and kale.

Dancing the trendy and popular “Harlem Shake,” Timberlake borrows melodies from favorite club tunes like “Freak Out,” and “Ice, Ice Baby” and replaces the lyrics with catchy, vegan ones like “Veg Out,” and “Brown Rice Baby.”

Remember those commercials produced by the Corn Refiners Association that touted the benefits of High Fructose Corn Syrup? Saturday Night Live has done its version of those commercials, mocking how the ads made those who were concerned about its effects look snobby and uninformed.

When mom 1 asks mom 2 if she’s really going to feed her child the HFCS drink, mom 2 replies the drink is simply, “made from corn, it’s natural enough and like sugar it’s fine in moderation.” She then remarks it’s not an easy decision between believing mom 1 and the “scientists,” since mom 1 is the stay at home mother who “drinks wine at 10 a.m.”

Mom 1 backs off and tries gentler conversation, complimenting mom 2 on her sweater. That’s when mom 2 confesses it used to be her daughter’s, but the daughter grew out of it. As the camera points to the daughter–drinking yet another glass of HFCS juice–it’s easy to tell the only “growing” the child has accomplished is the fat cells in her mid section and jaws.

The two original commercials for HFCS can be viewed below.

Alec Baldwin “SNL” Performance Is Vegetarian Muffuletta Delicious

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, May 19th, 2010 in Actors, Food & Drink, Recipes, Videos.

Alec Baldwin recently became the 2nd person to host Saturday Night Live for the 15th time–tying for the spot with Steve Martin.

To commemorate the history, associate publisher and editor of New Orleans Magazine Errol Laborde took time to blog about his encounter with the Emmy winning actor in the Big Easy.

During Baldwin’s visit to the Tennessee Williams Festival, he had partaken in New Orleans tradition and eaten a vegetarian Muffuletta sandwich.

A Muffu-whatta?

Muffuletta is a Sicilian sesame bread or submarine style sandwich that originated in the French Quarter of New Orleans.

Traditional muffulettas contain several layers of meat, including salami and capicola, and are covered in an olive salad.

A mouth watering close up photo of a veggie version of the Mufuletta can be seen here to get you excited about trying the recipe.

Makes a good meal to snack on while watching the recent SNL clip you may have missed.

Rob Schneider Does The Veggie Bean And Weenies?

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, March 11th, 2009 in Actors, Comedians, Food & Drink.

Is Rob Schneider a vegetarian?

The comedian and actor has had starring roles in Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo and The Hot Chick and has been a veteran on Saturday Night Live.

A question on RobSchneider.com asked, “If you were to be a spokesperson for a new Hormel food product what would it be for?”

Rob’s answer was, “Vegetarian bean and weenie pockets.”

Does Rob do veggie? Or does he just like vegetarian products?

If he is veg, and knew about all the alleged Hormel sins, maybe he would have picked another company.

Saturday Night Live’s Kristen Wiig Balances Tofu With M&Ms

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, December 26th, 2008 in Actresses, Food & Drink.

The Cinema Society Hosts The After Party For

Actress Kristen Wiig has been around the block quite a few times tickling our funny bone.

It’s her fourth season on Saturday Night Live, but her CV includes Knocked Up, Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, and most recently, Ghost Town.

Like the rest of us normal humans, she has an insane sweet and junk food tooth that drives her to the likes of Dark Chocolate Peanut M&Ms, lemon cupcakes, and “hot, melted cheesy sandwiches.”

But she’s only diet naughty once a week. For the other 6 days it’s tofu and jogging in Central Park. We’re not sure about the jogging, but the tofu part doesn’t sound like punishment at all.

From an interview with Women’s Health:

“I live between Central Park and the Hudson River, and those are two great places to walk and run. I also do yoga. A bunch of us have a private class once a week. When I’m working, I try to get something in a couple times a week. I’m a vegetarian; I eat a lot of tofu and soy. I drink a lot of water, and I’m addicted to cranberry juice. I do have a splurge day once a week when I can eat whatever I want. It’s good, because it helps you stay on track the rest of the week. In the beginning, I ate anything I could see. But it’s funny: The more you do it, the less you end up splurging.”

Read the rest of Kristen’s interview to learn more about this hilarious woman who claims to love Target just as much as her SNL character does.
