Although She Doesn’t Care…Kareena Kapoor Won Sexiest

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, February 16th, 2009 in Actresses, Bollywood.

We mentioned earlier that Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor said she couldn’t understand the point of the “sexiest vegetarian” lists that she constantly makes.

But news is news and the sexiest are here. Kareena won World’s Sexiest Vegetarian, along with her male counterpart Sreesanth in the annual contest held by PETA India.

Lots of people cared about R Madhavan, Aditi Gowitrikar, Vishal Dadlani, Kailash Kher, as well as Alicia Silverstone, Pamela Anderson, Hansika Motwani, Mallika Sherawat, Mahima Chaudhary, Rajneesh Duggal, Sir Paul McCartney and Moby.

But unfortunately for the runners up, people didn’t care enough to cast their votes for them.

“When you look at the dozens of gorgeous celebrities in this year’s poll, there are no bones about it – a vegetarian diet makes you beautiful inside and out”, says PETA India’s Anuradha Sawhney.

Congratulations to the sexiest. For whatever the list is worth.

U2’s Larry Mullen Jr. Found Morocco A Mess For Veg Eatin’

Music Industry Trusts' Awards 2008 - Inside

Bollywood actor Rajneesh Duggal was stuck eating veggies and rice every day after discovering France wasn’t the vegetarian mecca of the world during his visit.

He’s not the only one who feels the pain of trying to stick to your eating habits while overseas.

Larry Mullen, Jr., drummer for the band U2, described the food as being less than pleasant when he visited Morocco years ago.

“Bono had been talking about this religious festival and he mentioned it to me, thinking that I’d shoot it down. And I said, “Actually, that’s a good idea, I’d like to go back to Morocco.” The last time I was there the food was shite. I was vegetarian, full-blown, verging on vegan, and so it was a difficult time. But underneath all the cultural shock I enjoyed it. So i was happy to go back. I felt musically it would be a very good thing.”

Rajneesh Duggal Finds France A Foe When Needing Meatless Food

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, December 18th, 2008 in Actors, Bollywood, Food & Drink.

240_rajneeshMark Ruffalo isn’t the only actor to experience the horrors of finding good vegetarian food while traveling abroad.

Rajneesh Duggal, Bollywood actor who made his debut in the film, 1920, survived on steamed rice and vegetables for five days from a Chinese restaurant located across the street from the hotel he was staying in Paris, France, because he couldn’t find vegetarian food elsewhere.

But that’s nothing compared to his dining in experience with colleagues at an Italian/French cuisine restaurant.

Poor Duggal couldn’t find anything vegetarian on the menu.

“All my friends began ordering non-vegetarian food, while I was busy seeking for some vegetarian food in the menu, but all in vain. I was starving and seeing them enjoying the food made me even more hungry.”

His friends, who no doubt felt sorry for him as they chowed away on their meaty entrees, suggested he find something with eggs or fruit. Finally, after discussing with the waiter his problem, the restaurant chefs had specially made Banana crepes prepared.
