Ellen DeGeneres has Tweeted on a local Los Angeles shelter’s campaign to give more animals a home for the holidays.

Rob Thomas and his wife Marisol have donated over a quarter of a million dollars to an animal shelter in Puerto Rico.

Pet’s Alive, received the donation in two parts: $125,000 from the Thomases personally and $225,000 from their charitable organization, the Sidewalk Angels Foundation.

“We were doing rescue there remotely,” said Marisol. “And we realized there was really a need there. I wanted to see a real change happen on the island.”
