Quantcast Vegetarian StarMayim Bialik (6)

Mayim Bialik

When Mayim Bialik takes her little one for a check-up, runny nose or prescription refill, she’ll never have to worry about doc giving her a lecture on proteins, soy products giving him male breasts, the kid’s growth being stunted or any of the other naysaying arguments those in the medical profession who are uneducated about veg diets and children give.

Mayim’s pediatrician for her children happens to be a vegan.

“Fortunately, our pediatrician is vegan, and that’s so incredibly important,” Bialik told VegNews in the April 2011 issue.

“Not only for my son to have a vegan diet reinforced at our check-ups but also to have a pediatrician who’s a nutritionist, whom we can actually go to with my mother-in-law’s questions.”

Mayim Bialik has become the official woman of the house and gotten her husband to stop eating meat!

The former Blossom actress and PhD holder told Parent Dish, “My husband and I read “Eating Animals” by Jonathan Safran Foer, and my husband has not eaten meat for four months.”

Similarly, Mayim’s other two favorite men are following dad’s lead.

“The boys do not eat dairy or meat or eggs. We also have a kosher home.”

Mayim’s method for getting her family to adopt a meatless lifestyle is accomplished through education, rather than by setting hard fast rules that are expected to be followed.

“It’s actually helpful that my son understands that different people eat different things for different reasons.”

Mayim Bialik: Life’s A Lot Greener Since “Blossom”

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, October 20th, 2009 in Actresses, Environment-Eco-Green.

Premiere Screening For "REX"

Mayim Bialik is a green mommy, making her own shampoo, cleaning and granola products for her family.

In a recent interview with the Sierra Club, Mayim discussed how life on the screen has become more environmentally friendly as well.

Blossom ended when I was 19. Things are a lot different now. Recycling is a standard part of everyone’s vocabulary, which is significant because of the amount of scripts. The beauty products used aren’t tested on animals and are gentler on the environment. Green practices are becoming a much more accepted line of conversation. I don’t wear leather and that’s something easier to address now.”

Mayim Bialik: Politcally Incorrect Vegan

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, October 19th, 2009 in Actresses, Food & Drink.

All grown up! Blossoming Mayim Bialik leaves the Cinespace movie theater following the premiere of Rex

Whether it’s for convenience, an inability to give up some foods, or whatever your reasons, the “almost vegans” may find it hard to categorize themselves while bringing up their diets with other people.

To the “almost vegans” out there, you have famous company.

Mayim Bialik, almost vegan, describes her position as this:

“I don’t call myself vegan in political vegan circles, because I do eat eggs if it is in something, or dairy if it is in something and I taste it, it is okay with me. Our son is raised pretty much the same. As I said, in political circles, vegans don’t consider me vegan, but I don’t eat dairy or eggs, or fish or anything with a face or a nervous system. If I am around vegans, I say I am a vegetarian who doesn’t eat dairy or eggs. I also don’t wear leather.”

What are some of your politically incorrect vegan habits?

Do you keep your home vegan, but eat dairy if there’s a batch of cookies in the office?

Mayim Bialik Advice Guru Needs Vegan, Organic, Kosher Cuisine

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, October 1st, 2009 in Actresses, Food & Drink.

Premiere Screening For "REX"

Mayim Bialik wrote a bit of advice to a lost soul wondering what next step to take in their career.

“Lost In Space” got some great inspiration from Mayim, and a suggestion that if they were interested in taking the food industry on, there was a demand near her.

“If you find that your passion is vegan kosher organic cuisine, that dream is attainable too (and seriously needed in my neighborhood)!”

Mayim, in addition to being a successful actress and obtaining a PhD in Neuroscience, may be the next Dear Abby or Ann Landers.

Just listen to this additional piece of advice she gave “Lost In Space.”

1). Make a list of things you enjoy doing/skills you have.

2) Make a list of things you do NOT enjoy doing/are not cut out for. (Don’t be excessively self-critical; that’s what the rest of the year is for. Just be descriptive.)

3) Make a list of the things you could see doing that would make you excited to go to work and happy to be part of.

4) Make a list of the crazy jobs you never thought were within your reach, and don’t hold back; it’s just a list, it won’t bite.

Hmmm…Is Mayim taking clients for one on one therapy?
