Gwyneth Paltrow Finally Admits She Hates Vegetables, Eats Rhinos

Written by Vegetarian Star on Saturday, May 9th, 2009 in Actresses, Not So Vegetarian.

The West Coast premiere of Valentino: The Last Emperor, LACMA, Los Angeles, CaliforniaWe have mocked Gwyneth Paltrow more than a few times on her two-faced vegetarianism which has consisted of such acts as saying no to meat publicly, then teaching others to grind turkey patties.

Now, The Spoof, a fictitious news blog, is getting in on the action and has written a hilarious satire where Gwyneth readily admits she hates vegetables and goes to a park in South Africa to eat rhinos.

“Fading actress Gwyneth Paltrow has admitted, after six years of marriage and the same amount of years as a vegetarian, that she does not, in fact, like vegetables.”

“Paltrow claimed her husband took the news surprisingly well and is taking her out for dinner tonight at an all-you-can-eat Game Park in Johannesburg, South Africa.”

“”I’m so hungry I could eat the arse out of a dead rhino!” said Paltrow, licking her lips with glee. Martin had no comment, preferring to simply sulk instead.”

Veg Man Chris Martin Hates Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop: Wonder Why

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, January 20th, 2009 in Actresses, Male Musicians, Male Singers.

Musicians arriving at the 2008 Q Awards held at the Grosvenor Hotel - London

It’s no secret we have jumped on Gywneth Paltrow’s turkey eating behind for her website Goop, which has regularly recommended a plethora of meat dishes, even though she has claimed that she and hubby Chris Martin are “pretty much vegetarians” at home.

It seems that husband Chris, frontman for Coldplay, has issues with her site as well. According to Showbiz Spy, the website is causing friction in their marriage.

“He hates any exposure outside of what he considers necessary – his music, charity work and her acting. He thinks Goop’s self-indulgent and hates the speculation that the advice she gives on relationships or family problems may be an insight to their own personal life.”

Granted, the source did say family problems or relationships. However, Chris might be also ticked off that the site is causing other types of speculations. Like maybe, they actually eat turkey in their personal life? Chris has been known to be a vegetarian for some time, (World’s Sexiest, to be exact) before Gwyneth even told everyone about their “pretty much vegetarian” life at home.

The source continues, “Gwyneth doesn’t want to come across as a hypocrite.”

But oh, how she is doing so.

“She knows people will think that advice she’s put on the site is a reflection of what’s happening in her own life, but if she distances herself from those assumptions, people wouldn’t buy into Goop.”

So that’s it! Gywneth really isn’t a turkey burger eating, fish sucking gal at home after all. She’s just pretending to be to attract carnivorous fans.

Gwyneth Paltrow Has True Vegetarian Moment. Seriously.

Written by Vegetarian Star on Saturday, December 20th, 2008 in Actresses, Food & Drink.

Gwyneth Paltrow attends launch party for Spain..On The Road Again

Despite her recent transgressions against vegetarianism, actress Gwyneth Paltrow, who claims she is “pretty much vegetarian,” actually stood up in defense of both animals and soy milk. Yes, the crucified soy milk.

During a clip of “Spain…On The Road Again,” she’s sitting with Mario Batali and exclaims that Spanish soy milk is delicious.

Mario teases her about his, asking if he can get her some, “steamy, hot stinky soy milk,” and jokes that Spanish soy milk is good because they [the Spaniards] make “great soy sauce.”

Gwyneth tells Mario to shove it. Ouch!

She then chides him for eating lamb earlier, saying it’s such bad karma to eat baby animals (grown  male turkeys still fair game).

Mario’s argument that lots of “tiny soys,” gave up their life for her milk just isn’t as convincing a rebuttal.

Visit Eat Me Daily to view the video (it’s the one at the bottom of the page) as well as a clip showing Gwyneth cringing at the death of a lobster.

Vegetarian Gwyneth Paltrow Offers More Animal Flesh Recipes

The UK Premiere of Two Lovers

Gwyneth’s Paltrow’s vegetarianism these days is sort of like describing a prostitute’s puritanical traits. Yeah, there really aren’t many.

To make a long story short, the actress who claims to be “pretty much vegetarian”, has “pretty much” slept with the fur devil and given step by step instructions for making patties out of Tom Turkey these past few months. But she did abstained from ham. Always give credit when it’s due.

Her latest newsletter from her online site, Goop, features the, cough, cough, vegetarian giving meal hints for the holidays.

“I generally always make the same meal for Christmas as I do for Thanksgiving with a few exceptions…Since you can pull up the Thanksgiving MAKE from the archive if you’re doing Whole Roast Turkey, I thought I would do a delicious Hanukkah menu and a Christmas breakfast.”

“For Hanukkah I love a Whole Roasted Fish with Salsa Verde and with the addition of the Latkes, you get that wonderful crisp potato thing on the side; it’s very satisfying…”

“The biscuits are a healthier version of the good ole’ southern version but are just as tasty. You can scramble an egg, add one of the homemade sausages, stick ’em in the fresh warm biscuit and, to quote a line from the epic eighties film Sixteen Candles, “Wha-lah, breakfast is ready!”

Um, wha-lah, girlfriend, breakfast is soooo not vegetarian ready!

It isn’t so much that we are attacking someone for promoting so much meat (not that we haven’t done that before), but it’s the fact that Gwyneth has associated herself with being vegetarian, yet is choosing to focus on so many meat dishes lately. She could have at least suggested her vegan pancakes with that darn turkey sausage!

Gwyneth Paltrow: Save A Pig, Eat A Turkey!

Cannes 2008: 'Two Lovers' - Photocall

Forget the horse, forget the cowboy. Save a pig, eat a turkey!

Gwyneth Paltrow has no doubt taken a beating from the vegetarian community these days and for good reason, including her fur wearing ways in a Tod’s clothing ad.

Her “Spain…On The Road Again” series on PBS, which UKTV has now obtained the rights, features Gwynnie, celebrity chef Mario Batali, New York Times food writer Mark Bittman and Spanish actress Claudia Bassols and their culinary experiences while traveling through the country.

While filming the series, Gwyneth said she did not eat jamon, a cured ham product only found in Spain and Portugal, because she’s a vegetarian, according to UK’s Digital TV blog.

When she apologized to PETA for wearing fur for Tod’s, she did say that her and husband Chris Martin, Coldplay frontman, are “pretty much vegetarian.”

However, in the Huffington Post she wrote about how turkey always has a place (dead, not a seat at the table, that is) at her Thanksgiving table with recipe instructions for how to make turkey burgers!

Hollywood divas can be ever so confusing! For now, it’s assumed Gwyneth follows the “Save a pig, eat a turkey!” vegetarian plan.

Paltrow Pretty Much Vegetarian Except For Big Fat Turkey

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, November 21st, 2008 in Actresses, Food & Drink, Not So Vegetarian.

Two Lovers Paris Premiere

Gwyneth Paltrow took some heat not too long ago for posing draped in fur in an ad for Tod’s clothing. She’s recently given a public apology to her green and vegetarian fans and PETA, saying the fur was thrown over her at the last minute and she thought it was fake.

She told PETA, her and her husband, Coldplay front man Chris Martin, are “pretty much vegetarians,” and “we know it’s the best diet for us and our kids, and of course for animals and the environment.”

However, it seems as if she should have followed up the statement with, “Except for Thanksgiving, when we chow down on that fat bird.” In an article in the Huffington Post, she writes:

“Turkey will always be the main event of Thanksgiving (at least in my house) and a whole turkey is the way to go if you’re feeding at least 12. But if your party is smaller, the stuffed turkey breast turns out to be a great halfway point. Brining it overnight insures that you don’t need to baste it and it has a quick cooking time. Why should things be any less festive if dinner is just for two? I came up with these stuffed turkey burgers which were a giant hit in my house. They are the perfect solution for anyone who isn’t feeding a big group (or for a big group that wants to try something different!).”

Not only is she admitting to bringing bird into her home during Thanksgiving, but even giving you instructions for how to grind it and make patties.

While her and Chris may entertain family that eat turkey and they’re expected to cook it, considering her track record, she should probably be avoiding talking turkey patties on such as widely read blog.

Better yet, put some recipes up there for Tofurky patties! And make it for your house guests too.

Olivia Wilde’s Pescetarian Footprint: Can Paltrow’s Pancakes Reduce It?

Written by Vegetarian Star on Sunday, November 2nd, 2008 in Actresses.

Blush Boutique Nightclub's One-Year Anniversary

Olivia Wilde plays a neurotic self-diagnosing doctor with a terminal brain tumor on Fox’s House who describes herself as a “sort-of vegetarian who eats fish.”

Not eating any other non-plant item but fish is better than downing Big Macs every day. But with the fish population dwindling and the impact that could have on ocean life, we’d like to see Wilde work harder to be a little more eco-friendly. And we think we have the answer: Eat Gwyneth Paltrow’s vegan pancakes.

No, this won’t restore the sardines she munches on while watching episodes of herself and Lisa Edelstein on widescreen, but at least she’d be reducing her dairy intake. And she can down a lot of pancakes to offset her “print.”

Wilde once won a contest for eating 33 pancakes in 20 minutes! She entered the contest just to prove she could eat as much as the macho men who doubted her gluttonous talents.

Maybe it’s the spirit of competition and a gauntlet thrown down that drives her into action.

Oh, Olivia, can you hear us? We don’t think you can stop eating fish. Not hardcore enough to do it…

Paltrow Says Sorry. Vegan Pancakes Will Make Up For It.

Written by Vegetarian Star on Saturday, October 25th, 2008 in Actresses, Food & Drink, Recipes.

Premiere Of Paramount's

Ah, the old tradition of asking for forgiveness by offering a gift. So not long ago, Gwyneth Paltrow did a very, very naughty advertisement. Well, it wasn’t really naughty, but it did offend quite a few vegetarian and vegan people.

Unlike Leona Lewis who said FUR-get it, Paltrow posed in fur lined boots and bags for the clothing line Tod’s. Known for her macrobiotic and vegetarian diet, she angered PETA and was rumored to upset her fellow veg friends like Stella McCartney. Now it looks as if she is offering a gift of a recipe for vegan pancakes to make it up to all of us.

She put a website up, called Goop (which incidentally, is the descriptive word that might come to mind when you think of pancake batter). Goop is all about goop good food: restaurants, recipes, advice, etc.

“I’ve got a thing for pancakes. This combination of nutty buckwheat and sweet, sticky banana is just great. You could sprinkle chopped walnuts on the pancakes as they’re cooking for a full-on pancake-meets-banana bread experience. These happen to be vegan, but don’t taste like it.”

Hmff. We don’t know what she’s implying by “don’t taste like it.” If “vegan” had a taste, we’d want to buy bulk size flavorings of it. But it does sound like a really great recipe, plus lots of more boring healthy information such as “calcium, vitamins, iron, gluten-freeness,” and so forth. If you’d like to accept Gwyneth’s offer of apology, keep going for the recipe. (more…)
