Is Paul McCartney Giving The Boo To Cull Wild Boar?

The McCartney And Mills Hearing Continues Into Day Three

This little piggy came to Paul’s house. This little piggy called it home. Boars like the Beatles. Or at least, ex-Beatles Paul McCartney.

Dozens of them are running around his 1,500 acre estate in Peasmarsh, East Sussex and those around want Paul to do something about it. But so far, he hasn’t given in and okayed for the population to be controlled.

Those who have problems with the wild boars say they are “breeding like rabbits,” and cause problems for those living in the area, including meddling in their gardens and shrubs.

“Boar are a huge problem for farmers. As with deer, the government has a policy to allow humane culling but Sir Paul is having none of it,” a source told the Sun.

Wild Boars can weigh up to 900lbs.-not your average stray cat eating the flowers in the garden. But surely, there must be a non-lethal way to take care of the problem.

Paul’s spokespeople haven’t gave word on why he isn’t doing anything about it, but given the fact that the vegetarian for decades is such an animal rights activists, he may very well find the current government “policy,” to reduce the numbers inhumane.

Paul McCartney Cooks Mashed Potatoes While Fighting Glovey

Move over Gordon Ramsay. Paul McCartney has officially scored another point in the Ramsay-McCartney meatoff, showing he can cook too. And amazingly, he used no profanity. Not even during his fight with Glovey.

Watch the video showing Paul McCartney teaching you how to make homemade mashed potatoes his way-from scratch! He advocates using non-hydrogenated margarine because it’s healthier, but says the amount you put in depends on how “naughty,” you want to be.

This recipe is taken from his late wife, Linda’s cookbook. Here’s a link to a couple of other recipes from her book.

This can be veganized as Paul says you can use soymilk in place of regular milk. Pay extra attention at minute 4:00 when Paul gets into a scuffle with his oven glove, Glovey.

Paul McCartney Says Meat Eaters Causing Global Warming

Paul McCartney 'Friendship First' Concert In Tel Aviv

Paul McCartney has been outspoken on the effects of a vegetarian diet and the planet, advocating people to cut meat from their diet for one day of the week to produce significant environmental improvements. Now he’s teaming up with a scientist who will back up his word even more.

In a letter to The Independent, McCartney and Dr. Rajendra Pachauri, the chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), write:

“Unfortunately, with higher incomes, societies, even in developing countries, are turning to greater … consumption of animal protein, which reduces the availability of food grains for direct consumption by impoverished human beings.”

“Already 60 per cent of food crop production in North America and western Europe is being diverted for production of meat.”

Both McCartney and the scientist are vegetarians, with Paul being one for 30 years and Dr. Pachauri for eight.

The letter goes on to cite evidence of meat consumption destroying the environment such as a 2006 report by the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization, which stated 70% of former forests in the Amazon have been turned over to grazing and livestock now use 30% of the world’s land surface.

Paul And Linda McCartney’s Macaroni Turkey

Paul And Linda McCartney

We made it through Thanksgiving, one of the major meaty holidays, but now it’s time to start thinking about Christmas.

May we suggest Paul McCartney’s macaroni turkey?

Paul and his late wife Linda became vegetarians in the 70s. One Christmas, Linda was experimenting in the kitchen, trying to come up with a meat-free dinner.

“We had all the trimmings but we needed something to simulate the turkey,” Paul told the British newspaper Daily Express. “So Linda made macaroni cheese. It was good, then she let it stand so it went solid and I was able to slice it. It kind of worked so we called it the macaroni turkey.”

Sounds like a plan.

Nowadays, when Paul and his daughters are together, they enjoy the Vegetarian Roast, one of the products in the Linda McCartney food line.

Paul McCartney Gone Wild: Eating Sugar, Playing China

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, November 17th, 2008 in Male Musicians, Male Singers.

Celebs at Stella McCartney Fashion Show - Paris

Paul McCartney is playing the role of bad boy these days. He relaxed a lot of his strict habits, which include avoiding sugar. Gasp!

According to The Telegraph  when asked what he’s putting in his tea these days, he replied, “Milk and sugar. Sugar these days, yes. I know not many people dare to take sugar these days, but I’m just reckless.”

Reckless, indeed. Perhaps even more astonishing is his decision to play in China, a country he vowed not to step foot in after watching a documentary on their use of cats and dogs for fur.

“I wouldn’t even dream of going over there to play, in the same way I wouldn’t go to a country that supported apartheid. This is just disgusting… I couldn’t go there. If they want to consider themselves a civilised nation, they’re going to have to stop this.”

Now, he has been reported to tell a radio station, “I’ve never played in China, I’m kind of interested to see what that’s like. There’s lots of places I’ve never played, but I think China would be the answer.”

Is this Paul wanting one last wild ride as he reaches, ahem, maturity? Or perhaps it has to do with the company he’s keeping.

It was watching the dog and cat fur documentary with this then wife, Heather Mills, that prompted him to swear off China. And she reportedly also liked to enforce strict rules about eating.

Rebellion hits everyone sooner or later.

Alicia Silverstone, Paul McCartney Help Fido Get 5 A Day

19th Annual Genesis Awards - Inside

Whether you like it or not, people pay attention to celebrities. And that can be a good thing.

A report done by the pet insurer company LV= claims more pet owners are feeding their dog vegetarian diets because celebrities like Alicia Silverstone and Paul McCartney feed their dogs vegan and vegetarian food.

Silverstone even went to far as to say her dogs don’t pass as much gas now that they’re vegan. If only that worked for people.

Interesting tidbits:

16% of pet owners follow the government nutritional advice for humans. Yep, five servings of fruits and vegetables a day for both you and Barker.

40% of pet owners feed their pets 3 servings of fruits and veggies a day.

The most popular vegetable choices for pets are carrots, followed by potatoes, and lastly peas.

While giving kitty and doggy fresh produce can be good, it’s always best to check with a vet before introducing changes in diet. And kitties are true carnivores-they’ll always need meat with their potatoes.

McCartney McSteamed At McDonald’s

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, October 8th, 2008 in Male Musicians, Male Singers.

Arrgh! Didn’t I tell them it was “Let It Be,” not “Let It Beef!”

People should know by now not to mess with the McCartneys. Not long ago, Stella threw a fit over an ad showing one of her vegan designs in a very compromised furry position. Now, a less than vegetarian friendly company has angered papa McCartney as well.

Walk into a Liverpool McDonald’s (not that any of you would, of course) and you might find some pictures of a very young Paul, John Lennon, Ringo Starr and the late George Harrison on the wall. For some sightseeing without the daytripping, go here to view a sample picture.

McCartney, a vegetarian, is obviously not too thrilled with this and his spokesperson, Geoff Baker, has made a few choice statements about McDonald’s actions:

“What sort of morons do McDonald’s think Beatles fans are?”

Well said.

“It’s ridiculous and insulting to use images to peddle hamburgers. Fans should boycott McDonald’s — and not just in Liverpool.”

Point made even better.

Republican Steak To Democratic Seitan: Nancy Shevell’s 180

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, October 6th, 2008 in Male Musicians, Male Singers.

Nancy Shevell, Paul McCartney's flame at work in Manhattan

Love makes you do a lot of things. Tommy Lee tried to do tofu for Pam, but in the end, he couldn’t control his roving eyes for burgers.

The latest carnivore to be struck by the herbivore love bug is Nancy Shevell, girlfriend of Paul McCartney. Apparently, she is trying to change a few of her ways to make him happier, including abstaining from meat and toning down her “super Republican views.”

A known lover of crocodile-skin bags, she reportedly lived off avocado sandwiches and tomato soup while traveling with Paul and loves to order off the veggie menu now.

Awesome for Shevell. Wonder what her favorite non-meat dish is? One thing is for sure: She’s a smart gal who won’t let another woman, like Mary the little lamb, get in the way of her and her man.
