Comedian Russell Brand, who will next appear in Get Him to the Greek, heads to a Yoga studio wearing acid wash jeans and flip flops

So many Playboy readers know that staying away from artery clogging meat may help prevent impotence, which is bad for, uh, enjoying Playboy, so more than likely if you read Vegetarian Star, you’ve already read Russell Brand‘s interview with the magazine.

Playboy asked Brand how he felt about being voted PETA’s Sexiest Vegetarian Alive not once, but twice.

Here’s what Brand had to say:

“Being the world’s sexiest vegetarian is akin to being the world’s most lovable pedophile. In a way it’s as much a condemnation as it is an endorsement. But I’m proud to be considered sexy, let alone the world’s sexiest in any category. If I were nominated to be the sexiest man on this sofa, I would happily accept that title.”

Brad Pitt will play a tiger hunter in a film, The Tiger, directed by Darren Aronofsky and based on a nonfiction book with the same title by John Vaillant, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

After a town is terrorized by attacks from a Siberian tiger, Pitt’s character, an activist, is forced to hunt the animal he loves down to protect the citizens.

A sad story, and according to National Geographic, usually doesn’t happen.

Tigers normally avoid humans, and attack in situations when they are sick and unable to hunt properly or their prey has dwindled to scarce numbers.

Think you’re a pig at dinnertime?

A hungry tiger can eat as much as 60 pounds in one night!

That’s approximately the equivalent of, oh, 30 large mushroom and olive pizzas.

Definitely worth a good tip when delivered at your door.

Bear Grylls On Killing Animals For Survival In The Wild

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, May 13th, 2010 in Actors, Animal Issues, Food & Drink.

18th Annual Elton John AIDS Foundation's Oscar Viewing Party - Arrivals

Bear Grylls will eat anything with legs or tentacles when he’s in the wilderness for one of his Born Survivor episodes, but that doesn’t mean he’ll be microwaving rats or sprinkling salt on woodlice at home.

Or that he enjoys killing animals or wants to tick off activists.

In fact, he’s ran a sanctuary for the same creatures he may consume.

“I love animals,” Grylls told the UK Daily Post. “I’ve run an animal sanctuary up in Wales, and it’s a big part of my life, and wildlife is, and so I’m animal crazy, at the same time I do a show, they’re showing people how to survive if their life really is on the line.”

“We always make sure if we are killing something, it’s killed very fast, and it’s all eaten.”

Less painful slaughter, waste not.

Grylls’ wacky, extreme tactics may be just a good lesson on empathy and environmentalism.

'Badmaash Company' Press Call

What Bollywood star has only recently discovered vegetarian sushi?

None other than Shahid Kapoor.

Co-star Vir Das from his latest film, Badmaash Company, is responsible for the addiction.

While shooting for the film, the two would often go out for dinner together and the same cuisine always got suggested.

“It turned out to be a big hit with Shahid and every night they all went out to a new sushi place,” said a source.

“I don’t think Shahid had eaten sushi before. I took everybody to one of the best sushi places in Bangkok that had a wide vegetarian selection,” Vir said. “I love sushi. It’s healthy, it’s fast and tasty too.”

When making vegetarian sushi at home, don’t forget to peruse Mark Bittman’s tips for doing so.

Premiere Of Diary Of A Wimpy Kid

Robert Capron may star in Diary of a Wimpy Kid, but he’s tough as nails because he knows the cool thing to do is adopt a pet from a shelter versus buying from a store.

He and his family adopted a dog who was severely underweight and had experienced hair loss due to mange.

Capron said Sam, the dog, is happy as can be now, despite that fact he’s “been through so much.”

If you’re clueless as to where to find your next pet, just enter your zip code to be directed to the nearest animal shelter in your area.

Harrison Ford Calista Flockhart Adopt Mistreated Dogs

Harrison Ford and fiancee Calista Flockhart have already welcomed an addition to their family.

Indiana Jones and his lady have adopted a few mixed breed dogs that were abandoned after their mother was hit by a car and left to fend for herself in the cold.

Troy Jackson, executive director of Northwest Animal Companions, had been given permission by the owner to nurse the dogs back to health, but something wacky happened and the owner filed grand theft charges against him.

After much media attention, including from Oprah and Ellen DeGeneres, all charges against Jackson were dropped.

Requests from animal rights activists convinced authorities not to return the dogs to the owner.

“They’ve gone from rags to riches,” Jackson said. “They’ll live a better life than you and me ever will.”
