Quantcast Vegetarian StarEmily Deschanel Speaks For Dairy Calf Mothers In PETA Ad (Video)

Emily Deschanel is a mother who tries to spend as much time as possible with her child when she’s not filming on the set of Bones.

She recorded a video for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals to remind everyone that some mothers don’t have such an opportunity.

“As a mother, I experience the joy of raising my son everyday,” Deschanel says in the video.

“But not all moms are so lucky. Like human mothers, cow carry their young for nine months and have strong maternal instincts. Calves would naturally consume their milk for several years.”

“But mother cows on dairy farms have their young traumatically torn away from them shortly after birth so that the milk meant for the calves can be sold to people instead.”

Why not make this Mother’s Day a good one for human and cow mothers by introducing mom to any of several non-dairy beverages like soy, rice or almond that contain as much calcium as milk.
