Quantcast Vegetarian StarMichelle Pfeiffer Inspired By Bill Clinton’s Vegan Diet (Video)

Michelle Pfeifer was a guest on Piers Morgan Tonight where she discussed her motivation for adopting a vegan diet.

According to some sources, Pfeiffer once tried vegetarianism, then abandoned it.

Learning about Bill Clinton‘s health transformation after he gave up animal products inspired her.

“OK, Bill Clinton loves food, so there must be something to [veganism] that’s making him stick to it. And also, he’s smart, so he’s not going to do something unless he really thinks there’s some science behind it,” Pfeiffer said.

“I just felt like…there was science behind it,” she said. “And, you know, it was sort of irrefutable. … I couldn’t not listen to it. My father died from cancer, and the older you get, there’s a lot of disease around you. And you see people struggling with chronic disease. You see people dying with terminal illnesses. And if in any way …. this is true, then you kind of have to listen to it.”

The actress admits it’s not soley about health and that she does feel she’ll look a little better onscreen is she stays away from meat.

“I’ve never really loved animal protein, I mean in terms of meat – animal meat. I ate it because I thought it was good for me, you know. And I thought I needed to eat the protein in vegetables to stay lean. Really, it was all about vanity, really, honestly,” she said. “But I have to say that it’s a close second with wanting to, you know, live long.”
