Jessica Alba and her family go for a walk in Sunset Plaza

Jessica Alba recently appeared on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno to discuss her first Easter with daughter Honor Marie Warren.

What’s so cool about Jessica’s first Easter with Honor is that she tried to keep things vegan!

According to Celebritybabyblog.com, the cupcakes were “organic, dairy-free, egg-free cupcakes.”

Jessica described the cupcakes as “awesome” and “moist,” but the icing left more to be desired.

“The icing was horrible, so I got the icing from the can,” Jessica told Jay.

You can watch the video of Jessica telling Jay about her Easter icing experience.

Aw, we’ll forgive you Jess. We’re just so proud you attempted vegan cupcakes. Wonder if this means Jessica will be doing more vegan cooking in the future?

Have you had a bad vegan icing experience? Cherrybrook Kitchen has some awesome vegan frosting guaranteed to make your next vegan cupcake experience NOT sucky.

Anoop Desai Drafted For Animal Safe Sex Education By PETA

American Idol Top 13 Party

Anoop Desai walked the plank on American Idol this week because he didn’t receive enough votes.

But just because he didn’t win American Idol, doesn’t mean he’s not being drafted by companies to be a spokesperson.

PETA India thinks Anoop would be perfect to front a campaign on getting pets spayed and neutered.

The group is  asking him to appear in a video supporting its Animal Birth Control (ABC) campaign to “implement humane methods of controlling companion animal populations in slums” in India.

Said N G Jayasimha, campaign manager of PETA India, to IANS:

“Anoop Desai is a huge hit in India because of being an Indian. He is an inspiration. There are sentiments of Indians associated with him and we want him to join the cause like previous ‘American Idol’ Vanessa Olivarez, Kellie Pickler and Ruben Studdard as well as judge Simon Cowell in using his celebrity status to help PETA help animals.”

“We want him to speak up for the dogs on the streets, as they really suffer a lot and need a voice. Though he is now out of the show, but he still has a huge appeal and fan following and we are hoping to ride on that,” he added.

Although we were hoping Anoop would follow his immigrant parents’ vegetarian diet, being an advocate for animals will keep him from being eliminated with our votes.

Russell Simmons Sneaks Fish, Eggs In Vegan Diet

OMG! Vegan Russell Simmons has just admitted to eating fish every once in awhile and not caring about the egg in his noodles.

On a recent interview with msnbc.com, Russell announced a contest he is holding to find America’s Greenest Campus where colleges can compete and measure their carbon footprint before and after making changes.

While discussing being green, Russell mentioned all of the little things people can do to go greener when he mentioned a very, very big thing to reduce our carbon footprint.

“We can be a vegetarian, which is probably the greatest thing we can do. The greatest cause of global warming is the animal abuse. By far more than all the forms of transportation put together.”

Even if this means we stray and eat a little fish every now and then. When the topic turned to celebrity hypocrites, the famed vegan Russell Simmons admitted that even he sometimes slips up.

“I’ve been a vegan for 10 years, but you know sometimes when no one’s looking, I eat fish. I do the best I can. And then [I'll have some] egg in my egg noodle.”

Whoa! What do you guys think of that. Did Russell just make it easier to people to excuse breaking their vegan vow? Or is he just trying to let people know every little bit counts and you don’t have to be perfect to make a difference?
