What Men Really Think Of Naked PETA Ladies In Lettuce

Written by Vegetarian Star on Saturday, July 18th, 2009 in Models, Videos.

The video above shows some scenes from Capitol Hill on National Veggie Dog Day, when PETA rounded up playmates Jayde Nicole and Jo Garcia to serve veggie hotdogs dressed in the same material used for fixings.

The idea is to create sex appeal and get your attention in hopes of turning you on (pun intended) to the veg lifestyle. But how effective is it?

Tony Pierce weighs in on PETA’s campaigns at latimesblogs.latimes.com. His response? Sure, they’re hot, but does being nude with veggie wieners convey any factual information?

“Here’s what PETA should realize: Men can change their ways, and yes, women could be the impetus that could lead us toward healthier diet, which in turn could also lead to a better world. But attractive, mostly naked women, in public places, doing weird and wild things, are feeding into male fantasies, as opposed to repulsing our animalistic impulses.”

He then highlights a similar campaign using nude women in an outdoor shower, with a banner that reads, “Wash Your Conscience-Go Vegetarian.”

“The German women to the right have an approach that I can get behind. Although this banner says “Wash your conscience clean — become vegetarian,” a different sign from the same demonstration in Frankfurt this week claimed that it takes 2,500 gallons of water to produce a pound of ground beef. While studies vary as to exactly how much water is needed for cattle, a regularly quoted Newsweek line claims that “the water that goes into a 1,000-pound steer would float a destroyer.”

“At the risk of alienating myself from the rest of my bachelor brotherhood, I have to say that this sort of logic actually speaks to me: “Before you order that chili burger from Tommy’s or that steak at Ruth’s Chris, think about what it took to create that delicious dish, and in the case of beef, it took lots and lots and lots of water. Water that could be used for more important things than the red meat that will please your palate but will rot your intestines.”

Looks like men need their brains turned on as much as other parts. Read the rest of Tony’s article.

PETA is definitely the type of organization that looks for world domination.

They’ve recruited dozens of US and European celebrities to front anti-fur, vegetarian, and other animal rights campaigns and are inching in on South America with Lydia Guerra.  Now, Irish animal lovers will be proud to call Suzanne McCabe their own as she’ll be starring in PETA’s first “I’d Rather Go Naked than Wear Fur” campaign in the country.

McCabe recently turned vegetarian as well, so it couldn’t get any better!

“It’s not tacky at all; it’s very tastefully done,” McCabe said. “You can’t really see anything, but it still gets the message across, which is the most important thing.”

“My parents weren’t overly delighted when they heard about the nudity, but they know how important the cause is to me and I know once they see the pictures they will be happy.”

“It’s incredibly exciting because this is the first time this PETA campaign has ever been done here.”

McCabe’s ad is expected to go public by the end of the summer.

Christie Brinkley Chairs the NOFA-NY Organic Food from Farm to Family Lunch

“For most of my life I’ve had a thing for the artichoke, because it was such an exciting vegetable. You could do so much with it. I first saw it on television, on “The Little Rascals.” I had my own artichoke plate, with a place for the heart to sit. To this day I still go crazy for them. But I also eat broccoli every day, it’s like taking a vitamin. And I like leafy green vegetables. But artichokes and I go way back.”

Playmate Of The Year, Ida Ljungqvist, Reveals Vegetarian Secret

So we never have enough posts for the guys. Vegan cosmetics, fashion, and girly stuff often dominates the site, but as of today dudes, no more complaining.

Feast your eyes on Ida Ljungqvist, the 50th Playmate of the Year, as well as the first African-European to take the honor.

Although the meat on her body is in all the right places (hey, don’t call us sexist, it’s for the guys), she doesn’t put any into her body.

“I’m a size zero. But I carry my weight in the lower body, so I exercise moderately and I’m a vegetarian,” she said, according to Foxnews.com. “I take Bonnie my Chihuahua hiking with me a lot and I do lots of walking. But I’ve never believed in pushing it too hard. It should never be a chore to exercise; you have to enjoy it or else don’t do it all.”

This little lady is also brilliant. She speaks three languages fluently-English, Swedish and Swahili-and has traveled with her Swedish father across the globe to work with UNICEF.

No, we don’t have her number. Please don’t email us for it.

Heather Mills’ Veggie Shrimp Turned Boyfriend Jamie Walker Vegan

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, April 20th, 2009 in Couples, Food & Drink, Models.

Heather Mills Speaks At Viva! The Incredible Veggie Show
Guess Elsa Maneiro didn’t know what she was talking about when she predicted Heather Mills’ boyfriend,  Jamie Walker, would never go vegan.

Walker is reportedly vegan, thanks to Heather trying out her magical food goodies on him, including a vegan shrimp she claims to have developed.

“You can’t even snog a meat eater,” Mills said, according to splashnewsonline.celebuzz.com.

“It took three months to get my boyfriend vegan. He’s a big, muscly guy so it’s quite easy to convert people.”

Heather has recently launched her vegan food range, Mighty Meatless Meals in Minutes, so it’s safe to assume Walker was a guinea pig in developing the entrees.

Ah, she makes it sound so easy. Have you tried to convert your significant other or any other close friend or relative to vegetarianism or veganism? What was the result?

She’s on her way to sprinkling some vegan food dust in a couple of countries. She’s working with Hunts Point Charity to bring vegan food to impoverished families in the Bronx in the US and most recently, bought an old fish restaurant in the UK that she plans to turn into a vegan eatery.
