Tom DeLonge of Blink 182 - Summer U.S. Reunion Tour 2009

Blink-182 is on their highly anticipated reunion tour, with 50 U.S. dates set up.

Guitarist Tom DeLonge plays the role of multi-tasker, also having a side musical project, Angels and Airwaves, and a shoe company, MacBeth, which features trendy vegan shoes for both men and women.

“We just released a shoe from Mike Dirnt of Green Day, we having stuff coming up from Davey Havok of AFI, Frankie from My Chemical Romance, a special shoe from Muse and a lot of rad stuff,” DeLonge said. “It has taken a few years for people to realize Macbeth is a really good shoe company, and we are trying to work with the coolest bands possible. The shoes are awesome, and I think people are finally catching on, and it is doing better than it has ever done. We are securing a place in shoe history.”

Macbeth’s first shoe, The Eliot, was launched in 2002.

The rest was history.

A few days ago we posted the ad showing Blink 182 and Angels and Airwaves musician Tom DeLonge advocating spaying and neutering pets.

Here’s a behind the scenes video of Tom as he’s filming his PSA for PETA’s “Have The Balls To Fix Your Dog” ad.

Spaying and neutering is a great way to prevent thousands of unwanted animals from being euthanized in shelters nationwide.

And besides, you probably spend more on all those soy lattes than you would to get your cat or dog fixed.

“It’s not expensive,” says Tom. “You probably spend way more on coffee, burritos, and alcohol to be honest.”

Not to mention you can search for free or low cost spay and neuter clinics located in a city near you.

Watch the video to see Tom and his dogs Chloe and Grey.

Tom Delonge is obviously a man of many talents.

Between Blink 182, Angels and Airwaves, Modlife and being the entrepreneur behind MacBeth Shoes, he still finds time to speak up for animals.

Seen here in a spay and neuter your pet ad, Tom poses with his dogs Chloe and Grey to ask everyone to grow some balls-and get their pet fixed.

“It just ends up becoming a really sad state when animals are running around that have no families to be a part of,” said Tom. “Spaying and neutering the animals keeps the happy animals with happy families and doesn’t create too many lonely ones out there.”

Tom DeLonge, Mr. Macbeth Shoes, Speaks To Sneaker Freaker

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, March 9th, 2009 in Business, Male Musicians, Male Singers.

2008 Voodoo Experience - Day 1

Tom DeLonge is known for being the guitarist and vocalist for the musical group Blink-182, as well as Angels & Airwaves. He’s also the brains behind Macbeth Footwear, with all its vegan shoe brands designed for celebrities such as Tegan and Sara and Frank Iero.

He spoke to Sneaker Freaker about Macbeth shoes:

Where does the brand name derive from? Are you a literature buff?
The theme of Macbeth, the Shakespearean play, tells of a basic truth, in that riches gained through unethical methods are less than worthless and we try to ingrain that in our company ethos. It is an amazing play and if anyone has not read it, we highly recommend you do. That theme and name are timeless and we want our company to be timeless too, so the name just stuck.

You’ve been quoted as saying ‘Macbeth is about challenging yourself to find that which inspires you to be better, do better and to live with greater meaning’. How can a humble sneaker do all of that?
Through its charitable works and vegan program, we feel Macbeth challenges people to be a better person and establish a greater meaning in their life. When someone purchases a certain pair of shoes, because a portion of the proceeds go to a charity they believe in or because they are animal cruelty free, that person is doing their little part in a greater goal for the betterment of society.

Is that why you went vegan-friendly as well?
When Macbeth first started, we were working with and taking inspiration from the growing hardcore scene. Bands like Bane, Alkaline Trio, American Nightmare, H20, and Sick of it All, all supported Macbeth and asked for vegan-friendly shoes. From there the vegan program expanded into what it is today, still working with several bands like AFI and Circa Survive that live by vegan ideals.
