Meredith Vieira and several other celebrities’ New Year’s resolutions are posted at Vegan Resolutions.

Vieira would like to give up dairy–at least in her morning cup of joe.

“I vow to use almond milk instead of milk in my coffee,” the journalist and NBC correspondent said.

That’s quite an upgrade from her old breakfasts of “cigarettes and cola,” as she explained on Today.

“When I was a smoker, I started every day with a Tab and a cigarette,” Vieira said.

Brandy Norwood

Brandy Norwood (singer Brandy) has been rumored to be vegetarian, but according to a feature in US Magazine on celebrity New Year’s resolutions, Brandy is thinking of taking her diet a step further and give up eggs and dairy. Again.

“Just being healthier,” Brandy said. “I’m going to try to go back to being a vegan.”

Sounds as if she’s been down this path before.

If a diet change involving animal products is your New Year’s resolution, you may want to do it, excuse the pun, “cold turkey,” according to Reid Hester, director of research at Behavior Therapy Associates.

Us Weekly Hot Hollywood Event - Arrivals

Mya went vegetarian to shape up for her Dancing With the Stars role this past season and lost 11 pounds while doing so.

Unfortunately, she couldn’t find the time to plan her meals to get enough protein and ended up going back to meat.

“My new year’s resolution was to be a vegetarian for six months out of this year,” said Mya, according to Us Magazine. “I did three months and stopped and then I’m almost done with my second three months commitment.”

Will Mya make the same promise to herself this year?

Will she go for the home run and do it for 365 days in 2010?

Ugh!

Who wants to think about New Year’s Resolutions before the holiday season is over?

Unfortunately, if you’ve been on the Thanksgiving to Christmas diet and stuffing yourself with every cookie invented, it may be time to start thinking how to drop the 10 pounds even vegan desserts will ultimately put on the belly.

Dr. Neal Barnard, president of the Physicians Committee For Responsible Medicine, has offered a few tips at the Huffington Post and of course the pres of an organization that promotes a vegan diet recommends the V word.

“Abundant research has shown that the more vegetarian meals people eat, the easier time they have maintaining a healthy weight. And the most powerful meals are vegan. In May, researchers at Loma Linda University published results of a study of nearly 61,000 Americans. Vegans were the thinnest, meat-eaters were the heaviest, and fish-eaters and ovo-lacto-vegetarians were between the two. People who switch to a vegan diet typically lose about a pound a week–and this prescription for weight loss doesn’t require portion control or calorie-counting. A meatless diet also helps reduce the risk of heart disease, type two diabetes, and some cancers.”

Beso New Years Eve Hosted By Eva Langoria

A new year is here and everyone has started to make their resolutions, including Hollywood stars.

Us Magazine compiled some celebrities’ resolutions for 2009 and one Desperate Housewife wants a kitchen without meat.

When asked what her New Year’s Resolution was, Eva Longoria answered, “To give up meat.”

While Fergie isn’t necessarily leaning towards vegetarian, she did say she was “trying to go organic” and “eat more raw” was included in her goals, which means if she keeps this promise, she’ll definitely be chowing down on more vegan foods. She’s getting married to sweetheart Josh Duhamel in less than 10 days, so she might have to put hers on hold ’cause wedding cake usually isn’t raw.

Sneaky meat eating Aisha Tyler said she just wants to be happier. Well, now that mom and dad aren’t making her eat horrible tofu, we guess she will be. Boo!

Kanye West may have a hard time keeping his resolution, though. “My resolution is to be as nice as possible to the press.”

Ha! How long do you think that one will last?
