Cannot Buy My Soul The Songs of Kev Carmody

After converting his ’59 Lincoln continental into an electric car, Neil Young was so excited to share the green love, he created an album inspired by it, Fork in the Road.

But not everyone was excited to hear “Cough Up The Buck” and “Fuel Line,” as one commenter on a website examining the lyrics to one of his songs said, “No one wants him to retire, but we really need to quit pretending that the lyrics don’t suck.”

Vegan singer and songwriter Missy Higgins recognizes how spreading the seemingly enthusiastic eco friendly love isn’t for every musical artist, so she stays away from it.

“I’ve tried, but I can’t figure out a way to do it without sounding cliché. Some people protest through their music, and some have to do it through other means. Midnight Oil does it pretty well [through their music]. They’re big environmentalists.”

We admit we’re in love with Missy Higgins. But what’s not to love about her?

A vegan with a beautiful voice and equally talented song writing skills, she’s no stranger to animal issues either. Remember when she got cuddly with the piggy?

Now she’s cozying up with Izzy the dog, and both want to convey a serious message about animals and the fur industry.

“If you wouldn’t wear your dog, please don’t wear any fur,” reads the ad.

“The only difference between your “best friend” and animals killed for their fur is how we treat them. All animals suffer and feel pain. Please don’t wear any fur or fur trim.”

When vegans breakup, they can still enjoy a meal together peacefully.

Singer Missy Higgins once dated fellow Australian Johnny MacKay, member of the band Children Collide. They broke up, moved on, and went their separate ways.

Both vegan food lovin’ individuals, they happened to run into each other in the vegan food mecca of L.A. Amazingly, there was no fighting, bickering, dirty looks, and both parties got along just dandy.

They also enjoyed a nice dinner and saw a concert afterwards. MacKay told News.com:

“She’s cool. We’re cool… it was a long time ago now.”

Australian vegan cutie Missy Higgins won the hearts of many in her home country; now she’s trekking across the U.S. winning American love as well. But just because she’s been living in the raw food hub of L.A. and becoming more Californian every day, she’ll waste no time reminding you she still remembers how they do it down under.

When asked by Blog Critics if she preferred a Vegemite sandwich or shrimp on a barbie, she responded, “Vegemite sandwich because I’m vegan and because we don’t call them shrimps, anyway, we call them prawns!”

Go Missy! Tell it like it really is! Also, thanks for telling them what’s the better option over both prawns and shrimp Barbie dolls or whatever.

Fun fact: Missy was the first girl to join the football team at her primary school. How cool is that?

Go here to read more, including how Missy thinks “koalas seem to have it pretty good…getting stoned on Eucalyptus leaves…”
