American Idol 2008 Grand Finale - Arrivals

One of American Idol’s favorite Teddy Bears is enjoying his newlywedness with wife Surata Zuri McCants, whom he married on June 28, 2008. A quote from Go Veg.com reveals where the happy couple might be eating when Surata (or Ruben) doesn’t want to cook:

“My favorite dish is from PF Chang’s: the Buddha’s Feast. It’s hands-down my favorite dish. And the tofu lettuce wraps. My favorite brand now is Morningstar. Anything Morningstar, I love it—except for the sausage links. The patties ain’t bad though. But yesterday I had the fake buffalo wings.”

Morrissey Plays Alexandra Palace

Donald Trump has nothing on him.

Morrissey has made his vegetarian beliefs known publicly in past, but hasn’t always had control over whether everybody else follows them.

That changes will you become employed by him, a former valet said.

Apparently, Morrissey pre-orders vegetarian meals for his crew and will fire anyone caught eating meat on tour.

Wonder if this is similar to smoking bans where you must be so many feet away from campus facilities.

Sir Paul McCartney Cool With Daughter Bea’s Veganism

Paul McCartney Performs An Exclusive Gig In London

Although Paul McCartney himself is not a vegan, his ex-wife Heather Mills wants to rear their daughter, Beatrice as one. While divorced couples bicker about almost everything, this is one subject Paul is not interested at all in challenging.

More from the Sainsbury’s Magazine interview, to be on the stands September 4th:

“My youngest daughter is vegan, so I’m often looking for vegan food and I need to know if there’s any dairy products. I prefer to think of it as caring; it’s a good thing, you do it for the right reasons,” he said.

ABC Television Network Upfront

Add another Hollywood couple to your “split” list. Singer Michael Bolton and Nicollette Sheridan of Desperate Housewives, dated in the 90s-then split. They got back together and made plans for a wedding in 2006-but have split again.

We wonder if there was another woman involved. Like Mary, the little lamb.

A couple of years ago, a friend of the couple said that Bolton was trying to convince Sheridan to stop eating meat because “watching her eat a lamb chop grosses him out.”

Apparently, Sheridan began making changes to please her man, but it may not have been easy.

By the way, what is the best way to convince a Hollywood actress to change her diet?

“He convinced her that it will keep her caloric intake down.”

Paul McCartney: You Know Where You Can Stick That Right?

LIPA's 10th Anniversary & Liverpool Performs 2006 Launch

Apparently Russell Simmons didn’t teach the chef at Nick and Toni’s very well. Earlier we brought you the news of how he requests special vegan risottos at the New York restaurant whenever he dines. You think that would make the chef a little more sensitive.

Sir Paul McCartney was dining there with his girlfriend Nancy Shevell, when the chef ordered the waiter to bring a meat-based amuse bouche to the “vegetarian guests”. To which McCartney replied, “You can tell the chef to stick it … but don’t tell him I said that.”

Even if you’ve had your head in a sandbox for the past century, you’ve had to have overheard the news that the Beatles superstar is a longtime vegetarian. And since Paul is a regular at the restaurant, the chef had no excuse.

Playful banter? Or is Nick and Toni’s chef getting tired of catering to the vegans who act like celebrities?

Britains Best 2008 - Arrivals

The two contestants are in the pit. All one needs is love. All the other needs is the F-word.

Admittedly, journalist like to sensationalize. Therefore, we thought it’d be best to come right out and say that the title of this post is a little exaggerated. No fight between Paul McCartney and Gordon Ramsey in the sense of an Ultimate Fighting, animal blood and guts vs. sharp carrots and tempeh face masks will be taking place. However, the story is interesting…

Gordon Ramsey isn’t exactly known for his love of vegetarians and even spent an entire season rearing calves that he easily made the transition from pet to plate (ouch, yuck, cruel…you get the picture by now). He was once quoted as saying:

“My biggest nightmare would be if the kids ever came up to me and said “Dad, I’m a vegetarian”. Then I would sit them on the fence and electrocute them.”

At least we know where he, unlike some politicians, stands.

However, Paul McCartney decided to play a little trash talk back game in Sainsbury Magazine.

“I think it’s a case of live and let live. I will talk to people about the advantages of vegetarianism, and it will upset me if we’ve had a good conversation and they turn around and say something stupid. I just read a quote from Gordon Ramsay… ‘If my daughter ever grew up and married a vegetarian, I’d never forgive her.’ But even that I would forgive because it’s not my affair, it’s not up to me if he talks stupid or not.”

Judging from the tactfulness and thoughtfulness of each contestant’s opening punch, we think nice (and vegetarian) guys will finish first this time.

MusicMogul.com Launch Party

While L.A. may seem like the organic and raw food hub in the U.S., not every part of the city fits that description.

In some inner city and African-American communities, for example, fast food restaurants on every corner may outnumber the number of outfits Paris Hilton has for her dogs.

With diseases like diabetes and abdominal obesity hitting the African-American community hard, the outlook may be even more grimmer.

But all is not lost. Recently, the city has seen numerous black owned vegetarian and vegan restaurants open and several African-American celebrities, such as Erykah Badu, Russell Simmons, and Kevin Eubanks have teamed up with PETA to get the veg word out.

The most recent testimony is by retired basketball player John Salley. Go here to view his video. And if you live in southern Cali or are visiting, be sure to give your support and visit some of the black owned vegan restaurants, such as  Vegan Village Café, Stuff I Eat, and Rahel’s.

Meatless Mouthful: Johnny Marr of The Smiths

Virgin Festival By Virgin Mobile 2007 - Show - Day 1

And if a double-decker bus
Crashes into us
To die by your side
Is such a heavenly way to die
And if a ten-ton truck
Kills the both of us
To die by your side
Well, the pleasure – the privilege is mine

Whoa! Even the most angst filled emo teen would probably turn off that one. But for some reason, we have staff that really dig the 80s song, “There is a light that never goes out,” by The Smiths. Quote from guitarist Johnny Marr:

“I’ve been a vegetarian since my teens. It would’ve been pretty tough to be singing Meat is Murder with The Smiths while stuffing down burgers in your spare time.”

Learn about his love for organic white tea, here.
