AFI Hunter Burgan Loves Vegan Cheese Sourdough Bread

Live Earth - New York - Show

But make sure you wash your hands before making it for him if you’ve sneezed recently.

Hunter Burgan, bassist for AFI known for his sarcastic, witty, and downright ridiculous comments on his blog or during interviews, shared with buzznet.com what he’d love to put on his sandwich.

Buzznet: If we gave you sourdough bread and you could put anything on your sandwich what would it be?

Hunter: It would be very thoughtful of you. Thanks! (I might melt some vegan cheese on it, or maybe marinara sauce if you didn’t give me vegan cheese.)

But Hunter’s quite a germaphobe, so never do something like cough and touch his sandwich. Or stab him.

“I hate it when people sneeze into their hands and then place them inside my mouth. I also hate being stabbed to death…that’s a pet peeve of mine.”

And to all ladies without eyes, sorry, you’ll have to find another man.

“The first thing I look for is eyes. If a girl doesn’t have eyes, it’s a no-go. (my apologies to all the girls reading this without eyes).”

A few months ago, PETA unveiled its very own college cookbook, PETA’s Vegan College Cookbook: 275 Easy, Cheap, and Delicious Recipes to Keep You Vegan at School.

If catchy recipe titles like “Pimp My Ramen Noodle” and “Campus Streaker” aren’t enough to get your attention, you’ll be happy to know some of your favorite veg celebrities are giving it the thumbs up as well.

Country music star and former American Idol contestant Kellie Pickler said, “I live on a tour bus so if it can’t be made in the microwave or eaten right from the refrigerator or pantry, then I don’t eat it. PETA’s Vegan College Cookbook is perfect for me and my lifestyle.”

And the ever so hilarious AFI band member Hunter Burgan had this to say:

“PETA’s Vegan College Cookbook makes me want to go back to school and earn a degree in yum.”

The cookbook contains 275 vegan recipes and can be ordered online for a student budget price of $14.99.

KROQ Almost Acoustic Xmas - Day 1

We’re really, really bad about birthdays. Ditto for anniversaries.

So while we’re a little late welcoming AFI and their bassist Hunter Burgan to our family of Twitter followers, it’s better late than never.

And we didn’t have to offer him a vegan burrito to join us.

Hunter is the Vegan Ambassador for Macbeth Vegan shoes, which he has said includes duties of, “creating new and better vegan foreign policy.” Last we checked, he was off to convince the Turkish ambassador to Chile to make chili with tofu instead of turkey.

Hunter tweets a lot. So much he won a Shorty Award, which goes to high achievers who can express themselves in 140 characters of less.

So pay him a visit on his blog at  Tranquilmammoth.com or follow his tweets @Tranquilmammoth.

Hunter Burgan Will Be Your Friend If You Offer Him A Burrito

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, April 6th, 2009 in Food & Drink, Male Musicians, Videos.

Hunter Burgan, AFI bassist and Vegan Ambassador for MacBeth vegan shoes has posted Part 4 of a 7 part Q & A series where he answers questions submitted by readers of his blog, Tranquilmammoth.com.

One reader asked this hilarious and bizarre question:

Let’s say that I happen to own this awesome burrito factory where I serve vegan burritos only-every vegan burrito you can imagine. I also serve coffee there. Would you be my friend on those terms, even though you know absolutely nothing about me?

Hunter’s reply:
“Yeah, I would be a little bit suspicious. This seems like a trap. And I’m not going to just walk right into a trap…Vegan burritos, right?”

Hunter’s sissy played a big part in his decision to go veg. She had been vegetarian for six years before Hunter became one.

Davey Havok One Ups Hunter Burgan With “Got Pus?” T-Shirt

KROQ Almost Acoustic Xmas - Day 1

We’re starting to believe we’ve got Alicia Silverstone psychic powers.

A few days ago, we informed you that AFI’s Hunter Burgan was crowned Vegan Ambassador for MacBeth shoes and that Davey Havok would soon make a grand publicity announcement to ensure his name remained king in vegan fashion.

Sure enough, Davey’s got a new T-Shirt in his Zu Boutique Clothing line to demonstrate what dairy milk contains-pus.

Yes, that’s gross, but is there really a prettier way of putting it?

The “Got Pus?” shirts, mocking the famous “Got Milk” slogan, are promised to be 100% somatic cell count free. Somatic cell count is a quality indicator of milk that increases in response to bacteria, such as staph, which then causes mastitis, a condition where pus filled abscesses form around the nipple.

Yes, we know. Got vomit bag yet?

Like other Davey fashions, this shirt is limited edition, and once all 100 of them run out, they’re gone for good.

Vegan Ambassador Hunter Burgan Was Also Presidential Candidate

KROQ'S Almost Acoustic Christmas - Day 1

The “crown” that AFI’s Hunter Burgan is wearing since he became Vegan Ambassador for MacBeth shoes might be a little too tight.

Burgan recently blogged about what his future duties will include as Vegan Ambassador, and claims he has so much experience with leadership, he was even a write in candidate for President in this past election.

“When I was first approached about this distinguished position, I asked myself, “Hunter, do you have what it takes to be an ambassador?” to which I replied, “Yes, I do.” As you probably already know, I’m no stranger to powerful political positions. I was the 8th grade student council vice president, so I think I know quite a bit about this type of thing. I also know for a fact that in the recent presidential election I received at least one write-in vote.”

“Another responsibility that I assume I have as the Vegan Ambassador is meeting with foreign diplomats about vegan matters. No one has said anything specifically about this, but since this is the FIRST definition that came up for ambassador, I’m going to assume this is also part of my job. There are still many countries that have not heard of Macbeth, or do not understand what vegan means. This is where I come in. I also play an important role in creating new and better vegan foreign policy.”

“Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to take the company jet to an important meeting with the Turkish ambassador to Chile. My plan is to convince him to make chili with tofu instead of turkey.”

AFI’s Hunter Burgan Is Cover Boy For MacBeth Vegan Shoes

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, January 7th, 2009 in Fashion, Male Musicians.

KROQ Almost Acoustic Xmas - Day 1

Not happy with band mate Davey Havok hogging all the vegan fashion spotlight with his Zu Boutique designer clothing, AFI bassist Hunter Burgan has agreed to be the Vegan Ambassador for MacBeth Shoes.

MacBeth has “crowned” him Vegan Ambassador and announced the news that he is designing another vegan shoe for the line.

Wonder if there is serious catty competition among the boys lately?

The Hunter

In a statement, MacBeth said:

“Burgan’s dedication to vegan ideals and his friendship with Macbeth have already helped build the Macbeth Vegan program into what it is today. Burgan will be the face and focus of Macbeth’s Vegan program, involved in all things vegan related, from hosting a new vegan blog to helping with design, and everything in between.”

The shoe, aptly titled, “The Hunter,” was designed to be not only pretty, but functional as well.

“Burgan’s design goal for his second Studio Project was to create a vegan high top that is the perfect marriage between fashion and function. He needs a shoe that provides ankle support for his active live performances, but also wanted something that reflects his sophisticated design aesthetic.”

Burgan’s pretty/practical high top is scheduled to be available globally in February. By then, Davey will have a new T-shirt out and one-upped him.
