Anna Wintour‘s appearance and speech at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York was met with protesters from People from the Ethical Treatment of Animals.

The Vogue editor is known for her love of fur, and it’s comeback in fashion has been attributed to this.

The protesters held signs with Wintour’s face with taglines that read, “Fur Is Worn by Beautiful Animals and Ugly People,” as well as posters depicting animals being skinned for fur.

PETA’s vice president Tracy Reiman said, “We scoured photo agencies for the shot that most accurately reflects Wintour’s selfish, cruel nature, and although there were many candidates, this one summed it up best. Wintour is the perfect poster girl for one of the most hideous industries on the planet.”

“There’s always a way to wear fur,” Wintour has said. “Personally, I wear it on my back.”

Audrey Kitching Anticipates Vegan Tacos, “The September Issue”

Around Smashbox Studios - MBFW - Day 2

Audrey Kitching was recently making some tacos sin carne in her kitchen.

“Making home made vegan tacos and doing laundry in my gold glitter stilettos! I can not wait to see the September Issue when I get home!”

Given the fact that Audrey’s vegan, she might  have loved The September Issue fashion but probably doesn’t have a taste for Anna Wintour‘s fur fetish.

At any rate, for the hearty taco filling minus the fat, animal flesh, and cruelty, may we suggest Lightlife Smart Ground Taco and Burrito Variety.

It’s fat-free, certified vegan, with a combination of soy and wheat gluten to give 9 grams of protein per 70 calorie serving.

Grab some at your next shopping trip, along with your gold cooking stilettos.

Anna Wintour, Vogue Put Vegan Shoes On Fur Wearing Model

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009 in Fashion, Fur.

The September Issue chronicling Vogue‘s biggest edition of all time-September 2007-is now playing in select theatres.

The October 2008 issue featured an anti-fur activist’s nightmare and fur loving Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour‘s dream come true.

The concept “Women as Goats,” looked even sillier than it sounds as it featured women on top mountains looking “wild” with furs in Mongolian goat, coyote, Tibetan lamb and fox.

Didn’t know goats were so catty and competitive as it looks as if one goat is trying to steal the other goat’s shoe.

Don’t forget the vegan shoes to go with the look.

Yes, one of the models wears Stella McCartney platform Mary Janes.

Wonder if vegetarian Stella saw this and got as fumed as she did when a Hockley model wore one of her bras with a fur coat?

“The September Issue” And Anna Wintour’s Furry Back

J Mendel Fall 2006 - Front Row

A movie about the editors, models, and photographers that made September 2007 the best selling edition of Vogue magazine ever, The September Issue,  hits the theatres this month.

Anna Wintour, fashion editor and editor-in-chief of American Vogue is known for reviving the fur trend in fashion.

Not sure how the “reviving” works, since the fur is dead, but Anna supposedly has the resurrection powers within her.

“Nobody was wearing fur until Anna put it back on the cover in the ’90s,” one stylist said, according to usatoday.com.

Thanks a bunch, Anna. The animals thank you as well.

Wintour has been quoted as saying,”There’s always a way to wear fur. Personally, I wear it on my back.”

Don’t see why she’s bragging about this, as most men won’t even admit to having a hairy back.

With the cruelty of animals being kept in cages on fur farms and even skinned alive for the hides, the best way to wear fur is to fake it or keep it on the original owner-the animal.

Naomi Campbell Plans To Look Ugly In Fur Campaign

MTV Europe Music Awards 2004 - Arrivals

Photographed here in what seems like second skin for her, model Naomi Campbell has announced plans to star in a fur campaign for designer Dennis Basso.

Although Noami once had principles and starred in a “I’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur” campaign for PETA, she tossed those faster than a clothing switch at a photo shoot and criticized the group for its tactics.

“When PETA started targeting (Vogue editor) Anna Wintour and (designer) Karl Lagerfield and putting dead animals on their plate, I felt that they went too far and I thought, I didn’t want to be a part of this campaign anymore.”

She added, “I do like wearing fur and I still do.”

Well, now.

Naomi isn’t winning some over at monsterandcritics.com, where commenters are giving their two cents.

“She has brought all the negative feelings about her on herself with her disgusting actions.”

“This woman Naomi Campbell may be beautiful on the outside but inside she is very very ugly. In the past she was part of an anti-fur campaign but obviously for her it was only skin deep! Money rules and her compassion for anybody but herself is obvious. Fur only looks good on the true owner: the poor animal that was abused and tortured for a stupid coat!”
