Venus Williams serves as a great example of an athlete that can successfully sustain herself on a plant-based diet.
The tennis champion who adopted the lifestyle shortly after receiving a diagnosis of an autoimmune disorder shared her tips for eating well, whether you’re a world class athlete or a weekend warrior who spends most of the time in an office cubicle.
Venus gave these tips to Good Morning Center:
- Drink protein shakes before you exercise.
- Use peas and nuts to boost your energy.
- Follow a plant-based diet.
- To keep your body hydrated and clean, drink a glass of hot water with lemon every morning.
Following her own guidelines has almost certainly helped this Jamba Juice franchise owner cope with Sjogren’s syndrome, a condition that sometimes takes almost a decade to discover.
Venus said recently on the Dr. Oz Show:
“The reason it stayed such a mystery is because the symptoms are so ambiguous that no one can really diagnose it. At one point, I just ended up getting sicker. And that’s what happens to a lot of people. The average diagnosis time is about seven years.”
