Are you looking at American’s Next Great Restaurant owner?
We sure hope so!
Sudhir Kandula has made it to the top 3 finalists in the reality cooking show where one chef will be able to run his own restaurant invested by celebrity chefs Curtis Stone, Lorena Garcia and Bobby Flay, with several locations in key cities in the United States.
Kandula is the guy who wants to make vegetarian Indian food mainstream. And now there’s a pretty darn good chance he will.
“In India, my family ate meat, just about once a month,” Kandula told Mid-Day. “Indian cuisine is one of the best at treating vegetables. And through my concept, I wanted to show how vegetarian food can be tasty. On the insistence of the judges, I plan on including non-vegetarian items, but it will be a predominantly vegetarian restaurant. I will make Americans see how tasty vegetarian Indian dishes can be.”
Kandula is taking vegetarian a step further, cutting out the excess oils and frying that’s sometimes done with even vegetables dishes. He said he plans to take traditionally fried food, like samosas, and grill them instead.
Below is the most recent episode from America’s Next Great Restaurant showing Kandula standing with the final two, on his way to the championship.
