Quantcast Vegetarian StarMeatless Mouthful–Russell Simmons On Green Business

Russell Simmons

“I invest in things that I have faith in. For example, building a financial company (UniRush Financial Services) that serves people who were thrown away by the banks which developed a technology that speaks to the middle class. It has to be an idea that is aligned to the principles I live by. I don’t have any products that I don’t believe in. I won’t take part in the suffering of animals, exploitation of people or abuse of the planet. I can’t say that I’m a vegan and then own a steakhouse. It’s a karmic thing–you get what you give. It’s kind of nice when you’re serving the planet. I can go to sleep.”

“We need to move toward practices that doesn’t exploit people, but invests in the betterment of the community. If not, all the technology we’ve developed will kill us. I have faith in the world evolving. The principles I talk about are nothing new and serve as a reminder. They’re based on scriptures that speak the same message.”

Russell Simmons, on being an enlightened entrepreneur and how everyone can apply the principles he advocates in his book, Super Rich.

When employees can’t bike to the office, let them telecommute to save even more energy. Sourcing cafeteria food from farmers markets and purchasing reconditioned office furniture may be other ways to work green you haven’t thought of before.
