Nigel Lythgoe–So You Think You Can Adopt A Shelter Animal?

Nigel Lythgoe has learned through co-hosting So You Think You Can Dance that some of the best performance talent may originate from untrained, raw talent
And he recently learned you don’t have to scout a breeder or kennel for some of the best talent in the form of a canine companion.
When Lythgoe told a friend he planned to go to a breeder for a dog, the friend responded by saying, “I don’t know why you want to go through a breeder anyway. There are too many dogs in the world that haven’t got homes that are already alive.”
As the saying goes, “Friends don’t let friends drive to breeders.”
At an adoption event in Los Angeles, Lythgoe picked up a Dalmation and a pit bull mix, named Bonnie and Clyde, two dogs that had grown up together while living with a homeless man on the streets.
By choosing to adopt, Lythgoe saved two animals from dancing for their lives from euthanasia or worst–a hard life on the street which could mean hunger, abuse or both.
“And oh, I fell in love with them!” Lythgoe said. “They have moved from downtown homeless to Bel-Air. We are all very happy together at the moment.”
