Michael Dorn Goes Vegan–No More Raw Meat For This Klingon

Star Trek Vulcans have already questioned the morality of eating animals, but just because Klingons are known for their taste for raw meat, doesn’t mean some don’t give up it.

Michael Dorn, best known for his role as Lt. Commander Worf on Star Trek: The Next Generation, revealed in an interview with Live Fit that he’s become a vegan over the past 2-3 years and the only thing he occasionally misses is the burger and fries. But this Klingon has found that “dressing up” any meatless patty is the trick.

“The only thing that I even think about missing is hamburgers and french fries,” Dorn begins.

“But I’ve found that the vegetarian burgers and the stuff that’s out there now is very good when you dress it up. If you put vegetarian chili and mustard and stuff. It’s perfectly fine. So I don’t miss it at all.”

Before you go topping it off, it’s a good idea to get a lesson in the three main types of vegetarian burgers. A portobello burger, for example, with it’s lighter caloric content, would appreciate a hearty helping of vegetarian chili on top for extra protein or some Lemon Garlic Aioli.

Veggie burgers with visible chunks of rice, carrots or lentils may not do it for the hard core carnivore that’s looking for a meat replacement, but swapping a thick burger made from textured soy protein and topping it with ketchup, mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomatoes and onions may fool even the biggest steakhouse fan.

How do you dress up your veggie burger?
