Quantcast Vegetarian StarReal Housewives Caroline Manzo’s Husband Refuses To Kill Bear (Video)

Caroline Manzo of the Real Housewives of New Jersey recently looked in her backyard to discover a black bear relieving himself.

Her son, Joey, sent out a Tweet expressing his irritation with the trespasser, “Hellloooo bear in front yard” and “For those of u who ask, a bear doesn’t poop in the woods…it prefers my front yard.” However, Joey didn’t stop at that as Caroline told CNN a few nights ago her son was begging her husband to shoot it.

Her husband’s response, according to Caroline, was, “I’m not going to shoot it. It’s a beautiful animal. It’s just hungry.”

Well, technically it was probably full if it had to get rid of something, but…Mr. Manzo is the man of the month!

He realizes what groups like the Humane Society and the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife are trying to get across to the public. Bears and humans can get along.

An increasing bear population does not necessarily lead to more conflict, as Minnesota says its bear population increased from 8,000 to 21,000 from 1985 to 2002 while the number of complaints (or Tweets from people seeing bears poop in their yards) dropped from a couple of thousand to a mere few hundred. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources suggested this was from people learning to avoid bear-human conflicts, which can easily be prevented by deterring the bears from coming in yards to begin with.

The main reason bears are attracted to homes is because of food left out. So keep pet food inside, collect fruit from trees as soon as it ripens, and invest in a bear-resistant trash can so the critters don’t go dumpster diving from last night’s buffet.

The bear in Manzo’s yard will be tranquilized and transported to a sanctuary if spotted again. As the Gothamist says, “If only that were the solution to the insane fights the housewives get into.”
